Foo Fighters have filmed an episode of VH1 Storytellers that will air on November 27. At the taping, the band shared lengthy anecdotes between renditions of 13 songs. The final song was "Everlong," which appears on the group's new Greatest Hits album in both electric and acoustic forms. "I honestly think that if it weren't for this song we probably wouldn't still be here because it opened up so many doors for us, melodically, dynamically," Dave Grohl told the audience, according to Reuters. Meanwhile, look out for FMQB Productions' new radio special, Foo Fighters: An Inside Look at 15 Years, in which the entire group sits down with host Jack Black to discuss their career and their hits. It will air on radio stations nationwide from November 1 to 8.
In other Dave Grohl-related news, his other band, Them Crooked Vultures, will release a free song via iTunes on Tuesday. It's called "Mind Eraser, No Chaser." The song comes from the band's debut album, due on November 17.
Britney Spears has debuted the dance-heavy music video for her hit single "3" via her website today. The song will be included on Spears' The Singles Collection when it's released on November 24. The Singles Collection will come as an ultimate box set or a standard version.
Toni Braxton has signed with Atlantic Records and will release her label debut on February 2. The as-yet-untitled album will feature Braxton collaborating with a number of producers and songwriters, including Frank E (Madonna, T.I.), Steve Mac (Leona Lewis), Lucas Secon (Britney Spears, The Pussycat Dolls), Harvey Mason & Oak (Chris Brown, Joe, Mario) and David Foster (Whitney Houston, Celine Dion). "Yesterday," the first single from the album, which features Trey Songz, is currently on sale at tonibraxton.com.
Jack White and his band The Dead Weather appeared live on the U.K.'s NME Radio on Thursday and White revealed that the group already has "15 or 20" songs ready for their second album. White said the band will be getting together in December to record the follow-up to this year's debut, Horehound, and that, "We'd love to have the second record out within a year of the first one."
Starting tonight at midnight, Slayer will commandeer the MySpace Music Home Page as well as the brand new Music Video Home Page (MySpace.com/musicvideo) for the entire Halloween weekend. The first Slayer Halloween treat will be the exclusive premiere of the group's brand new album, World Painted Blood, which is due in stores on November 3. Fans can stream it until the release date, and they also can check out the short film Playing With Dolls, which is inspired by and features music from the album.
Artist manager Dee Anthony, who began a 40-year career by representing neighborhood friend Jerry Vale in the 1950s, has passed away from pneumonia at the age of 83. Anthony helped develop the careers of Tony Bennett and Peter Frampton, and was Frampton's manager when he released the wildly successful Frampton Comes Alive! album in 1976. He also represented British acts such as Traffic, Jethro Tull and Joe Cocker when they first came to the United States.
