Quick Hits: The Who, Taylor Swift, Slash & Friends, AMAs, Lita
November 12, 2009

Sports Illustrated reports that The Who have been selected as the halftime show for next year's Super Bowl XLIV in Miami on February 7. Roger Daltrey, Pete Townshend & co. are the latest Classic Rockers to play the Super Bowl, following in the footsteps of Paul McCartney and last year's halftime entertainment, Bruce Springsteen.

Taylor Swift
Taylor Swift dominated the 2009 Country Music Awards on Wednesday night, winning four awards. The Country-Pop crossover star became the youngest artist ever to win the CMA Entertainer of the Year Award. Swift also won for Female Vocalist of the Year, Music Video of the Year for "Love Story" and Album of the Year for Fearless.

Slash leads an all-star lineup billed as "Slash & Friends" for a charity concert in Los Angeles on November 22, benefiting the Los Angeles Youth Network (LAYN). Slash will be joined by Ozzy Ozbourne, Perry Farrell, Billy Idol, Chester Bennington of Linkin Park, Travis Barker, Andrew Stockdale of Wolfmother, Dave Navarro and many more. In other Slash news, he has released a two-song single in Japan, re-making the Guns N' Roses classic "Paradise City." The track features Cypress Hill and Fergie from Black Eyed Peas, but Slash said via Twitter that it will not appear on Slash's forthcoming solo record.

Janet Jackson and Whitney Houston have been added to the ever-growing roster of artists set to perform at the American Music Awards on November 22. According to the AMA Twitter account, Jackson will open the show with a medley of songs and Houston will sing "I Didn't Know My Own Strength."

Lita Ford has spoken out against the upcoming Runaways biopic in the past, but says that after meeting the actress playing her in the film, she has softened her stance. Lita met Scout Taylor Compton (Halloween) after the actress came to see her perform live with Queensryche. Lita says, "After meeting Scout this weekend, I feel so much better. She has a heart and soul, unlike some of the people behind the movie. She also hawks a mean loogey and really is a lot like me. We both cried the first time we spoke. Scout rocks." The Runaways, which co-stars Twilight's Kristen Stewart as Joan Jett, is due out in 2010.
