The NAB placed an ad today in two Washington D.C. political publications, Roll Call and Congressional Quarterly, thanking the almost 300 lawmakers who have co-sponsored the Local Radio Freedom Act, the resolution against the proposed Performance Royalty rate. The ad lists the names of 252 Representatives and 27 Senators who have pledged their support to the Local Radio Freedom Act.
Justin Bryant is named PD at Rhythmic CHR WVBX and Classic Rock WWUZ/Fredricksburg. Bryant replaces Victor Starr who is now working with the Donnie Simpson show at WPGC/Washington.

This weekend on Modern Rock KCXX/Riverside-San Bernardino, the station will air its annual "Pay-To-Play Weekend" where they will break format and play any song on the air, as many times as the listener wants, but at a price: donations for the Loma Linda Children's Hospital. Last year several labels got involved, and a few songs ended up in regular rotation due to the popularity achieved over the weekend. Former WKQX (Q101)/Chicago DJ Ryan Manno resurfaces at Chicago-based Internet radio station Fearless Radio. Manno will host weekdays, 3-7 p.m., starting Monday, November 23.

Regent Communications, Inc. appoints Ben Hoffman to the newly created position of Director of Interactive Sales. For the last eight years, Hoffman has been with Clear Channel Radio in a variety of management roles. Most recently, he was Director of Sales for Clear Channel in Dayton, OH, where he led the Interactive and traditional revenue growth efforts.
AC WBEB (B101-FM)/Philadelphia and local TV station, NBC10, have announced their partnership for the 2009 Stockings for Kids holiday toy drive. The program kicked off on November 16 and continues through December. The Salvation Army of Philadelphia, the beneficiary of the Stockings for Kids toy drive, has been negatively impacted by economic conditions and their holiday programs stand to be greatly effected. For 2009, VWR International, LLC, Pep Boys and Boscov’s have teamed with B101-FM and NBC10 to help The Salvation Army to collect toys for children in need. Including participating Boscov’s and Pep Boys stores, there are sixty toy collection locations in the Philadelphia region.
