The long-awaited Vevo music video site will officially launch on the evening of Tuesday, December 8. "The Vevo service at VEVO.com and at YouTube.com will go live in coordination with our launch event in New York on December 8," reads an e-mail sent by Vevo. "We've been working night and day for months to bring you the best music video and entertainment experience we can dream up, and in just about 3 weeks you can see it online for yourself!"
Plans for Vevo were first announced in April, when YouTube and partner Universal Music Group described it as a "premium online music video hub" that will be powered by YouTube's video technology. Since then, Vevo signed one content and equity partnership deal with Sony Music Entertainment, and the company has been in talks with Warner Music Group and EMI about similar deals.
Last month, Vevo also announced "a unique partnership with AT&T to support Vevo across a variety of connected platforms," though specific details were not revealed.
