Quick Hits: mtvU Woodie Awards, Fall Out Boy, Stone Temple Pilots, R.E.M., Bonnaroo
November 19, 2009

Kings Of Leon
mtvU handed out the 2009 Woodie Awards on Wednesday night in New York City, honoring college music favorites from the past year. Kings Of Leon won the Woodie Of The Year Award, while Green Day was given the Performing Woodie. Duo Matt & Kim kicked off the show with a live performance and won the Best Video Woodie for "Lessons Learned." Death Cab For Cutie, The Dead Weather and rappers Clipse, Cam'ron and Rick Ross all performed live as well. The Woodie Awards will run on multiple MTV platforms starting December 4.

Pete Wentz is refuting rumors that Fall Out Boy have broken up, telling MTV News the band is taking some time apart. Wentz says the group is on hiatus, elaborating that, "We're on a break that doesn't have a definite ending. There's no ending date. We've been doing this for eight years straight, where it was pre-recording, record, promo, tour, tour, pre-recording, record, tour, tour, and our band was going to imminently implode."

Stone Temple Pilots have postponed the end of their North American tour to finish work on their long-awaited comeback album. According to their website, STP will finish up their current Canadian trek, but all U.S. dates scheduled afterwards have been dropped from the page. In a statement, the band says the new album "will be coming out in the early spring of next year."

R.E.M. has begun recording the follow-up to 2008's Accelerate with producer Jacknife Lee. Michael Stipe posted a pair of short video clips of the band in the studio at REMHQ.com. R.E.M. recently released the live double-CD set Live At The Olympia.

Dates for the 2010 edition of the Bonnaroo festival have been announced. The annual festival will span four days, June 10-13, in its traditional location of Manchester, TN. The lineup for Bonnaroo 2010 is slated to be announced in January and February.
