Bloomberg reports that AOL, which is being spun off from Time Warner Inc. in December, plans to cut about one-third of its workforce over the next several months.
Death Row Records President and CEO Lara Lavi has been granted a temporary restraining order against the Canadian financial group New Solutions Financial Corp. and it's CEO, Ron Ovenden. The court order will keep outside interests from attempting to act on behalf of the iconic hip-hop label. Death Row was purchased out of bankruptcy by Lavi in January 2009. "I have been very consistent in my message - I am determined to make Death Row about the artists, their music and their fans while staying grounded to assure the company's future," said Lavi in a statement. "Thus, I am taking the necessary legal steps to ensure this outcome."

Syndicated radio host Bubba "The Love Sponge" Clem and representatives of local Tampa area businesses presented checks totaling $24,000 to the families of two local law enforcement officers who died in the line of duty, or from injuries they suffered. With this most recent donation, the Bubba the Love Sponge Foundation has raised a total of $50,000 in 2009 that has been donated to the families of fallen police officers.
The Minority Media and Telecommunications Council is asking the FCC to reconsider using Social Security numbers in the filing of Form 323 broadcaster ownership reports. The MMTC calls the idea "an unnecessary invasion of personal privacy" in a letter to the Commission. NPR has also voiced similar concerns in its own letter.
