| Taylor Swift, Michael Jackson Clean Up At AMAs |

Taylor Swift | Last night's American Music Awards were full of big moments, including Janet Jackson opening the show with a medley of hits, Jennifer Lopez wiping out during her dance moves, and Adam Lambert's sexually charged performance. But Taylor Swift proved to be the biggest star of all, as she won five trophies for Artist of the Year, Favorite Female Artist in both the Pop and Country categories, Favorite Album for Fearless and Favorite Adult Contemporary Artist. Swift accepted her awards live via satellite from London's Wembley Arena, where she was rehearsing for a concert on Monday night.
"I just want to say that music has never been ultimately about competition, and to even be mentioned in a category with Michael Jackson, who we'll miss and love forever, is an unimaginable honor," Swift said. "And I just want to say I'm sending my love to the Jackson family and Janet."
Michael Jackson won four posthumous awards, such as Favorite Male Artist and Favorite Album for Number Ones in both the Pop and Soul/R&B categories. This brought Jackson's AMA career total to 25 awards.
"We love you, Michael," said his brother Jermaine Jackson, who accepted on his brother's behalf. "It's not just about the winnings, the awards, it's mainly the message. The message that Michael had will live on forever... and he saw good in everyone and he wanted them to do good. To start with love and let's love each other."
Other performers included Whitney Houston, who was backed by a gospel choir as she belted out her new single, "I Didn't Know My Own Strength." Shakira got the crowd moving with "Give It Up to Me;" Jay-Z and Alicia Keys teamed up for their current hit "Empire State of Mind;" Mary J. Blige offered up "I Am;" Carrie Underwood did "Cowboy Cassanova;" the Black Eyed Peas delivered a futuristic medley of "The E.N.D." and "Boom Boom Pow;" and Eminem and 50 Cent tag-teamed for "Crack A Bottle." Rihanna donned a robot-like costume as she appeared onstage shackled in a mad scientist's laboratory to rock the house with "Hard," and Lady Gaga, also dressed in a bizarre light-up outfit, offered up "Bad Romance" and the power ballad "Speechless," with her piano literally on fire.

Adam Lambert |
But the talk of the week will surely be Adam Lambert, who did some S&M-inspired choreography to the title cut to his new album, For Your Entertainment, and grabbed his male keyboard player for a big, unrehearsed smooch. Lambert told CNN that the forceful kiss was "in the moment" and was not a planned part of his routine, which also included dragging a female dancer around by the ankles and walking a pair of male dancers like dogs on a leash.
Meanwhile, back at the awards podium, the Black Eyed Peas earned two trophies: Favorite Band, Duo or Group in the Pop category and the Soul/R&B category. Jay-Z also won twice for Favorite Rap Artists and Favorite Rap Album for Blueprint 3. Beyoncé earned Favorite Female Soul/R&B Artist, while Green Day nabbed the award for Favorite Alternative Rock Artist. Twilight was named the Best Soundtrack, and Country act Gloriana was named the T-Mobile Breakthrough Artist.
