Alicia Keys (photo: Jim Rinaldi) | Alicia Keys' upcoming album, The Element Of Freedom, will have collaborations with Beyoncé and Drake, reports Billboard. The Element Of Freedom was delayed two weeks to December 15 to give Keys time to finish the songs. "Put It In A Love Song" features Beyoncé and Drake contributes backing vocals to "Unthinkable (I'm Ready)."Speaking of Beyoncé, she announced at a concert in the U.K. that she is planning a new album for 2010. Billboard reports that at the last show of her U.K. tour in Nottingham, B told the crowd, "Hopefully, I'll see you all in a year with a new album."
Twenty-five recordings have been added to the Grammy Hall of Fame by the Recording Academy, bringing the list to 851 in total. Among the new additions were James Brown's classic "It's A Man's Man's Man's World," the Bob Marley album Catch A Fire, "California Girls" by The Beach Boys and comedy legend George Carlin's 1972 record Class Clown. Also included in the Hall of Fame were Jose Feliciano's Holiday favorite "Feliz Navidad," Bo Diddley's "Who Do You Love?" and "Riders On The Storm" by The Doors. Coldplay bassist Guy Berryman has started a new side project, titled Apparatjik. Berryman is joined by Magne Furuholme of a-ha on guitar and Mew singer Jonas Bjerre. A new song, titled "Electric Eye," has been released as a free MP3 and the group will already release their debut album on November 30.
In other side project news, Fall Out Boy guitarist Joe Trohman and drummer Andy Hurley are now working with Anthrax’s Scott Ian and Rob Caggiano, Every Time I Die’s Keith Buckley and bassist David Karon as a new Metal band, The Damned Things. According to Rock Sound, the group has already written 15 songs and will begin recording an album together next month. Scott Ian describes their sound as "Kyuss meeting Thin Lizzy."
Creed will release a live DVD capturing their 2009 reunion tour on December 8. Simply titled Creed Live, it was filmed on September 25 in Houston and set four World Records – including most cameras utilized in a live concert recording. "Making this DVD was a once-in-a-lifetime experience for us," says singer Scott Stapp. "[Director] Daniel Catullo and his staff not only set a world record filming this, but set a whole new benchmark for filming the live show with unprecedented vision and creativity. I have never seen anything like this, nor have our fans. I am so excited to finally give Creed fans something they will never forget. I know this is something that will keep us connected at all times through the live experience. Honestly, I am blown away!"
Billboard reports that Sade's first new album since 2000 is due out February 8. Soldier Of Love is the R&B singer's sixth studio record and her first since the multi-platinum Lover's Rock.
