Eminem | In a new interview with Complex, Eminem says that Relapse 2 is still on the way and will be a bit more serious than his comeback album that was released this year. "When I finished Relapse, I had a whole album of material that didn’t make it that I wasn’t ready to throw away, so that was going to be Relapse 2. But then I got with [Dr.] Dre in Hawaii and started recording more, and now the new material has knocked out all the old songs," Eminem said. "Making Relapse, I was still working the drugs out of my system, so there was a lot of… just jokey shit. It was a lot of punchline-y, funny, shock value — kind of going back to The Slim Shady LP. And that was cool, but I’ve kind of flipped the page. Now I’m going for songs instead of one-liners." Rob Zombie is holding back from debuting too much new material off Hellbilly Deluxe 2 on his current tour. However, he tells MTV News that the new songs he is playing "are connecting in an amazing way, considering that most of the audience doesn't know the songs. There are certain songs — 'Sick Bubble-Gum' in particular — that if you didn't know anything about us and you just came to the show, from the crowd reaction you would assume that was an old favorite we were playing. Sometimes you play new songs and people think, 'Maybe I'll like it later,' but people are digging it now, which is nice." He added, "One song that we've been doing at sound check is 'Mars Needs Women.' I'm really looking forward to playing it because it's got such a great groove. We would already play it if everybody didn't bootleg every little thing you do. The whole album would be online if we played any more." Hellbilly Deluxe 2 will be out via Zombie's new label home of Roadrunner Records on February 2. The Killers have released their fourth annual Christmas single, titled "Happy Birthday, Guadalupe." The song, now available digitally, features Wild Light and Mariachi El Bronx. As with all of the Killers' Christmas songs, proceeds from the tune go to the (RED) organization, which is dedicated to fighting AIDS in Africa. "We’re thrilled to be releasing our fourth Christmas song with (RED)," said Killers frontman Brandon Flowers. "(RED), through the Global Fund programs it supports, has made great strides in providing care to those affected by AIDS throughout Africa, and it’s our honor to continue to contribute to that cause."
MTV News reports that singer Nivea Nash has given birth to a son from rapper Lil Wayne. The child, named Neal, was born on Monday, November 30. According to MTV, it is unknown if Wayne and Nivea are currently together. Lil Wayne recently had another child with actress Lauren London, who gave birth to their son in September. R&B singer Kelis has signed with Interscope Records via will.i.am of the Black Eyed Peas' imprint. She is expected to release a new album in 2010. Her last release was 2006's Kelis Was Here for Jive, and in recent years she has been in the news due to her divorce from rapper Nas.
A tribute to Neil Young will be part of the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver. The concert will be held February 18 as part of a series of musical events around the Olympics, including Phoenix on January 22 and Feist on February 17. David Gray has announced the second leg of his North American tour in support of his most recent album, Draw The Line. The new dates begin in Houston on March 11 and wrap up in Orlando on April 15.
