Adam Lambert | ABC is still reacting to Adam Lambert's risque performance at the American Music Awards last month, as the American Idol alum has reportedly been cut from two scheduled appearances on the network. Lambert had been booked for Jimmy Kimmel Live and Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve With Ryan Seacrest. The singer wrote on Twitter yesterday, "Yes, sadly friends, ABC has canceled my appearances on Kimmel and NYE. :( Don't blame them. It's the FCC heat." On Monday, Lambert told Ellen DeGeneres that his performance "was maybe a little too far. I think in hindsight, I look back on it and I go, 'OK, maybe that wasn't the best first impression to make, the first second impression.'"Spinner has debuted the new version of Green Day's "21 Guns," featuring the cast of their American Idiot musical. The song will reportedly be sent to radio tomorrow and will be available as a digital single on December 22, according to Rolling Stone. "We wanted to record ‘21 Guns’ because it represents a pivotal moment in the show when the lead character, sung by John Gallagher, Jr., realizes he needs to get his shit together," Billie Joe Armstrong said in a statement. "After the show wrapped, we headed straight to Oakland with the cast to record, and they sung the hell out of it. I couldn’t be happier. It’s great to have something out there for people to hear who didn’t get to see the show." You can hear the remake "21 Guns" here.
The U.N. has appointed Stevie Wonder as a "messenger of peace," focusing on people with disabilities, according to Reuters. In a statement, U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon described Wonder as "a true inspiration to young people all over the world about what can be achieved despite any physical limitations. He has consistently used his voice and special relationship with the public to create a better and more inclusive world, to defend civil and human rights and to improve the lives of those less fortunate."
Snoop Dogg will be the featured host of Premiere Radio's syndicated The iTunes Download with Alex Luke this weekend. Snoop will join Luke to discuss his musical influences and play his favorite music from his iPod, and discuss his new album, Malice N Wonderland.
Indie rock faves Arcade Fire are working toward their third album, reports Billboard. The as-yet-untitled release is expected out in May. According to the BBC, the band has been recording with producer Markus Dravs (Coldplay, Bjork) for the past six months. It will be their first release since 2007's Neon Bible. Eric Woolfson, co-founder of the Alan Parson Project, passed away Tuesday at the age of 64. Woolfson had been battling cancer for a long time. He co-founded the Project with Parsons in the mid-'70s and co-wrote 10 albums with him, including all their lyrics and lead vocals on many songs. Woolfson also was a session player and songwriter and even managed the career of one-hit-wonder Carl Douglas ("Kung Fu Fighting").
