Red Hot Chili Peppers
Rumblings online say that guitarist John Frusciante has once again exited Red Hot Chili Peppers. Frusciante, who quit the band before in 1992 and rejoined in 1999, is known for not being a fan of the Rock star spotlight. "Mentally, John checked out a long time ago. He's interested in doing his own thing, his own albums - the whole big rock band machinery just doesn't appeal to him anymore," a source reportedly told MusicRadar.com. The source added that "Josh Klinghoffer has been playing with the group for a couple of months now," saying that he may be a permanent replacment for Frusciante. As a session guitarist, Klinghoffer has worked with artists like Perry Farrell, PJ Harvey and Gnarls Barkley. He also played with Frusciante on several of the guitarist's solo projects.

After Axl Rose got into a scuffle with a paparazzo at Los Angeles International Airport last week, a statement about the incident surfaced on the Guns 'N Roses MySpace page. But now Axl has issued another statement denying that he ever issued the first statement. It sounds confusing, but a new post on the band's MySpace reads, "I did not release any statement or authorize either any statement or anyone to release a statement regarding anything at any airport anywhere. We had recently began working with newer individuals in management in relation to our current Asian tour in support of our Guns N' Roses album, Chinese Democracy, in addition to Irving Azoff's though as it happens we are once again touring Asia without management of any kind. This nonsense may be some type of manufactured or publicity stunt." He added that, "We're looking forward to performing in Osaka and Tokyo, Japan doubling our pyro show and with our full stage as local requirement have limited us on its use in our last performances. Thanks to everyone who's come out to see us. It's been really fun so far and the addition of our new guitarist Dj Ashba joining us along w/ guitarists Ron Bumblefoot Thal and Richard Fortus gives the night a kick in the pants."

Muse's 2010 North American tour has been expanded, with 14 more dates in the U.S. and Canada announced for March and April. Silversun Pickups will open the entire tour. The trek now begins in Atlanta on February 27 and runs up to April 5 in Salt Lake City.

Weezer frontman Rivers Cuomo is out of the hospital and back home in California, following the serious bus accident earlier this month. In the latest report on Weezer.com, webmaster Karl Koch said that Cuomo was expected back home by Sunday afternoon. Cuomo had to make the trip back from upstate New York via bus, as his doctors said he was unable to fly due to his injured lung. Koch says that it appears likely that Weezer will need to reschudule their January concert dates to give Cuomo more time to fully recover from his injuries.

Erykah Badu will release her sixth studio album, New Amerykah, Part II: Return of the Ankh, on February 23 via Universal Motown. The singer says the set is called Part II because unlike 2008's more conscious-driven New Amerykah Part I: 4th World War, this album is more about raw feelings. "I called it Part II: The Return of the Ankh because this album is the sister of the left side of my brain - it is the right side," Badu explained during a New York listening session, according to Billboard.com. "Part I was the left side of my thoughts -- it was more socially political and my thought process was more analytical. This time there wasn't anything to be concerned with -- the album is more emotional and flowy and talks about feelings. It reminds of the days of Baduizm -- this is just about beats and rhymes in a cipher."

The dates for the 2010 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in Indio, CA, have been confirmed on the festival's website. The event will happen from April 16 to 18, 2010. An announcment about the lineup is forthcoming.

David Byrne and Norman Cook (aka Fatboy Slim) have been working for years on a multi-media musical project about the life of Imelda Marcos. The project, titled Here Lies Love, will be released as a two-CD/DVD/book box set on February 23. Byrne only sings on two tracks, with a variety of vocalists appearing, including Tori Amos, Santigold, Kate Pierson of the B-52s, Cyndi Lauper, Steve Earle and many more.
