Katy Perry Excited For Her New Summer Record
March 29, 2010

Katy Perry's much-anticipated follow-up to her breakthrough One Of The Boys will be out this summer, and the Pop star is excited about unleashing her new songs on the world. Speaking to MTV News at the Kids Choice Awards this weekend, Perry said, "It's so exciting. It's coming out this summer. It's a summer record."

She added that her previous teases about the album still fit. "It's what I said I wanted earlier," she told MTV. "We nailed it: It's roller-skating! It's '90s! It's Ace Of Base! It's Cyndi Lauper! It's like all these colors and more."

Perry added that Weezer's Rivers Cuomo and producer/songwriters Dr. Luke and Max Martin have contributed to the new material. She wanted to collaborate with electronic artist Calvin Harris as well, "but he got really famous so it didn't happen. But there might be some really cool guest appearances by some cool rappers from the West Coast. I mean, you'll just have to see, since I'm a California girl, you know. And then some best friends might be appearing. ... We'll see! It's going to be fun. It's going to be one of those records that is everybody's favorite guilty pleasure."

Also at the Kids Choice Awards, Perry made headlines by getting slimed by surprise. While presenting the award for Favorite Movie Actress to Miley Cyrus, the podium blasted Perry with green slime. Tina Fey and Steve Carrell were also slimed, while winning the "slimetime achievement award." Among the music awards, Black Eyed Peas were named Favorite Music Group, Jay-Z won for Male Singer and Taylor Swift was named Favorite Female Singer. Swift's "You Belong With Me" was named Favorite Song. Justin Bieber and Rihanna both performed as well.
