Resolution Introduced Opposing Mandatory Radio Tuners In Mobile Phones
April 19, 2011
Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA) and Rep. Anna Eshoo (D-CA) have introduced a new resolution to the House, opposing any mandatory requirement that radio tuners be included in mobile devices. The resolution, "H. Con. Res. 42," is entitled the "Creativity and Innovation Resolution," and suggests that Congress "oppose any mandate for the inclusion of terrestrial broadcast radio tuners in the manufacture or sale of mobile devices, which would stifle innovation, competition, and consumer choice."
The resolution also claims that "a new Government mandate that will force mobile device manufacturers and wireless carriers to include terrestrial broadcast radio tuners in new mobile devices will stifle innovation, competition, and consumer choice."
