Fiona Apple's long-awaited fourth album will be out in 2012, just not as soon as some fans hoped. Earlier this week, Epic Records CEO L.A. Reid tweeted that new music from Apple was coming "in the next few weeks." However, a spokesperson for the label told Time there would definitely be a new Fiona Apple this year but Reid's tweets were "taken a little bit out of context" and that new music wouldn't land as soon as next month. "It’ll absolutely be this year," she added, "but timing wise, I don’t know exactly when."
Rapper/actor Drake says he wants to play President Barack Obama some day. Speaking to VH1 News at the Sundance Film Festival, he said,"I hope somebody makes a movie about Obama’s life soon because I could play him. That’s the goal. I watch all the addresses. Any time I see him on TV, I don’t change the channel. I definitely pay attention and listen to the inflections of his voice. If you ask anyone who knows me, I’m pretty good at impressions." Of course, before his rap career took off, Drake was an actor first on the Canadian series Degrassi: The Next Generation.
Trey Songz hopes to wrap up his next record, Chapter V, before heading out on his "Anticipation 2our" in February. "I'm finishing the album now, actually," the R&B artist told Billboard. "I'm currently in Miami, and I have one more week until [tour] rehearsals, so that's when I switch to full 'tour mode'. The tour's been very prevalent in my mind, but the record and making sure the album's complete have been on my mind as well." Chapter V will be his first album since 2010, but Songz released the Inevitable EP last year.
Lenny Kravitz tells Billboard that he is almost done his follow-up to 2011's Black And White America. Kravitz says he was working on this new album, titled Negrophilia, but put it aside to record Black And White America. He adds the next record is "very funky" and "a very raw, jagged-edge album." However, Kravitz will be touring extensively for the first half of the year and doesn't know when he will finish Negrophilia. He will also appear in the much-anticipated Hunger Games film later this year.
