Salem Communications has reported its Q1 financial results, with total revenue up 6.1 percent to $54.3 million from $51.2 million in Q1 '11. Salem's net broadcast revenue grew by 2.9 percent to $44 million, up from $42.7 million a year ago. Station operating income fell very slightly to $14.8 million while same station net broadcast revenue increased three percent to $43.5 million.
Univision has also reported its first quarter results, as the Spanish language media giant saw its radio division revenue grow to $66.8 million from $62.8 million a year ago. Overall net revenue for the company reached $528.4 million, a 9.7 percent growth over Q1 2011.
Fisher Communications announced its Q1 results, with overall revenue down 10 percent to $33.9 million. Excluding Fisher Plaza revenues from Q1 2011, Fisher's consolidated revenue was essentially flat from Q1 '12 to Q1 '11. The company reported a net loss of $1.9 million, a slight increase compared to a net loss of $1.7 million in the first quarter of 2011. Radio net revenue decreased three percent in Q1 to $4.7 million.
Radio One has reported its financial results for the first quarter of 2012, with net revenue up 58.5 percent overall to $103 million, "giving effect to the consolidation of TV One." Radio One's radio division saw its "core radio business" grow by 6.4 percent for the quarter, according to CEO/President Alfred C. Liggins III. Radio One still took a net loss of $79.2 million in Q1, an increase over its $64.2 million loss a year earlier.
