The Killers Grinding It Out With Battle Born
June 12, 2012

The Killers are still eyeing a fall release date for their fourth album, Battle Born, but by no means is the record finished. It will be the band's first effort in four years, and The Killers have been working diligently in their Las Vegas studio five days a week, from noon to midnight, for an entire year.

"It's living up to its title," drummer Ronnie Vannucci Jr. told Rolling Stone of the band's new work. "This is our difficult fourth record."

The band has brought in various top-shelf producers to help them craft their new opus, including Brendan O'Brien, Steve Lillywhite, Daniel Lanois and Stuart Price, who produced the group's previous album, 2008's Day & Age. But despite working with so many different people, The Killers' signature sound still rings true in the new music.

"We write a very particular type of song when we get together," frontman Brandon Flowers added. "So many people try to find something wrong with it, but I'm not embarrassed by it."

Standout tracks on Battle Born include "Heart of a Girl," "Flesh and Bone," "Carry Me Home" and "Runaways," but the band concedes that there is still work to be done. "It gets harder as you get older," Flowers explained. "You want to put in the same effort, and find the same focus you had when you knew you didn't want to work at the casino anymore. We're working it out."

As previously reported, The Killers already released a trailer for the new album, which can be seen below:
