Papa Roach

Papa Roach will release their sixth full length studio effort on October 2. The album was recorded at the band's hometown studio, The Red House, in Sacramento, CA, and was produced by James Michael (Sixx:A.M., Halestorm). The album title and tracklisting have yet to be announced, but as usual, the lyrics aim to capture the complexities of the human condition. "We wanted to make a dynamic and explosive record that captures the raw emotions of life," says singer Jacoby Shaddix. "We also wanted to incorporate the biological sounds of rock with a digital edge to have a fresh sound. This is our own version of what we think the radio should sound like. This is the soundtrack to my life and once again I went through some dark shit and came through thanks to the music."

Ne-Yo held a listening party at Def Jam's New York headquarters on Wednesday night for his fifth album, R.E.D., which is due on September 18. The record is deeply personal and introspective, featuring some of Ne-Yo's rawest lyrics yet. "This is probably the most honest album I've ever written – almost honest to a fault," the R&B crooner said at the listening party, according to RollingStone.com. "It's going to change some people's opinions of me… but f**k it." The album will feature the lead single, "Lazy Love," as well as "Should Be You" feat. Fabolous.

The 2012 Teen Choice Awards have announced their nominees, and artists like Justin Bieber, Carly Rae Jepsen, Demi Lovato, Katy Perry, One Direction and Usher are multiple nominees in the music categories. Fans can vote once each day per category at www.TeenChoiceAwards.com until July 21, and the awards show airs on Sunday, July 22 at 8 p.m. on Fox. No Doubt will be on hand to perform their new single, "Settle Down," and Flo Rida is also set to perform.

50 Cent has confirmed that his next album, Five (Murder By Numbers), is finally coming out on July 3. Fiddy broke the news in an interview with WPHI (Hot 107.9)/Philadelphia. "I said I was gonna put a record out that was completely up to album standard, and I'm gonna do that," 50 said. "I worked on this album for a long time. It's been three years."

Bob Seger, Gordon Lightfoot and longtime Meat Loaf collaborator Jim Steinman were among those inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame on Thursday night. R&B singer Ne-Yo also was presented with the Hal David Starlight Award, which honors an exceptional young songwriter. Seger opened the ceremony by playing his 1973 classic, "Turn The Page," and he was then inducted by Valerie Simpson, who performed "We've Got Tonight" in his honor. Ne-Yo was inducted by producer Swizz Beatz, and the singer told the crowd how songwriting saved him. "I was a pretty riled up little kid," Ne-Yo said, "and if not for my mom giving me the pad and the pen and telling me to take my emotions and put them there, then there was no telling."

Jesse James Dupree has announced the July 31 release of Jackyl's Best In Show via his own label, Mighty Loud. The same day, the company also will street the debut from his son, Nigel Dupree, titled Up To No Good. In celebration of Father's Day, both acts will issue a single to radio, Jackyl's "Screwdriver" and Nigel Dupree's "Tumbleweed," each set with an add date of June 26. Jackyl will be touring for a good part of 2012, and while the itinerary is still being locked, they have dates booked through September 15 in Howland, ME.

The nominees for Canada's Polaris Music Prize have been unveiled, and the list features 40 possibilities for the Canadian Album of the Year award. The Polaris voting jury will whittle down the list to 10, and then they'll announce the winner at a gala on September 24. This year's nominees include The Weeknd for Echoes of Silence; Drake for Take Care; Kathleen Edwards for Voyageur; Feist for Metals; Leonard Cohen for Old Ideas and Bahamas for Barchords.
