Muse

A new Muse song called "Survival" has been selected by the London Olympic Committee to be the main official song for the 2012 Olympic Games. According to Muse's website, "Matt [Bellamy] wrote the song with the Olympics in mind. It's about total conviction and pure determination to win." The song will be played throughout the games, including when athletes enter the stadium, in the lead up to the medal ceremony and also as the theme for all international TV coverage. The song was sent to radio today and will be available on iTunes as well. "We are honoured that the Olympics have chosen our song to officially represent the London 2012 Olympic Games across the globe," Muse says. The first official single from Muse's upcoming album The 2nd Law will impact radio in August.

Dave Matthews Band will offer Away From The World, the new album which the group recorded with producer Steve Lillywhite, on September 11. Dave Matthews Band has been playing several songs from the forthcoming record on its current tour, including "Mercy," which will be the first single. The new album is comprised of 11 tracks, but deluxe versions of the CD and digital editions will also contain three exclusive live tracks. A super-deluxe edition will include the deluxe CD, a DVD, a 2012 tour photo book and more.

Mumford & Sons have announced the details of a summer tour across the U.S., beginning on August 1 in Hoboken, NJ. The band will likely be performing new material from their forthcoming album, due out in the fall. The tour wraps on September 1 at the Jazz Aspen Snowmass Festival in Colorado. Tickets will go on pre-sale this Thursday, June 28, and general on-sale to the public will begin on Friday, June 29.

Radiohead has rescheduled their European tour dates, following the death of crew member Scott Johnson who was killed in the Toronto stage collapse. The new European dates will now take place between September 20 and 30. The band also posted a brief note on their website today (6/27) which reads: "Thanks to all of you who have sent messages of support over these past couple of weeks. Scott has touched many people's lives and all your sentiments are testament to this. Our thoughts and love remain with Scott's family."

Kings of Leon drummer Nathan Followill and his wife, singer Jessie Baylin, are expecting a baby in December. The announcement comes on the heels of the birth of their new niece, after singer Caleb Followill and his wife, Lily Aldridge, had a baby girl last week in Nashville.

In a short letter posted on her official website on June 25, Beyoncé offered a tribute to Michael Jackson on the third anniversary of his death. "When I was just starting out, my first producer used to make me listen to Michael Jackson's live performance of 'Who's Loving You.' He would have me watch that for hours back to back to back," B wrote. She went on to explain that listeners could hear Jackson's soul, and that, "For whatever reason he could evoke more emotion than an adult. It was so raw and so pure. It's something that's God given. Michael taught me that sometimes you have to forget technique, forget what you have on. If you feel silly, you have to go from the gut, just let it go." She concluded, "Michael Jackson changed me, and helped me to become the artist I am. Thank you, Michael."

The Hives will return to the U.S. this fall for a West Coast run of dates in support of their new album, Lex Hives. Kicking off September 6 in Vancouver, the band will make stops in Seattle, Portland, Los Angeles, Oakland, Las Vegas and more before wrapping on September 16 in Morrison, CO at Red Rocks Amphitheater. Tickets go on sale this Friday, June 29.

Iggy Pop and Best Coast's Bethany Cosentino are set to debut a new song that they recorded as a duet on the HBO show True Blood. The track, dubbed "Let's Boot and Rally," will play during the end credits of the fifth episode of the show's current season, which will air on July 8.

Berry Gordy Jr. and Motown Records will be the subject of a new Broadway musical, reports the New York Times. Partnering with Sony Music Entertainment Chairman Doug Morris and producer Kevin McCollum (Rent, Avenue Q), Gordy will co-produce Motown: The Musical, which is set to open in the spring of 2013. The musical will include some new songs along with hits from the Motown catalog, and artists such as Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder, Smokey Robinson, Diana Ross and Michael Jackson will be characters in the show. "It's the truth about Motown, how it happened, why it happened, and who the people were and the ups and downs of the whole thing," Gordy told Rolling Stone of the venture. "I'm very delighted just to be involved."
