Quick Hits: The Killers, The Rolling Stones, Christina Aguilera, Flo Rida, One Direction, Jon Bon Jovi, Rob Zombie, Jimi Hendrix / Andre 3000
July 3, 2012

The Killers will debut a new song called "Runaways" on July 10. The track will be the lead single from the band’s forthcoming album, Battle Born, which is due in the fall. Drummer Ronnie Vannucci Jr. recently told Rolling Stone that the album is "living up to its title. This is our difficult fourth record." The Killers have been working with various producers, including Brendan O'Brien, Steve Lillywhite, Daniel Lanois and Stuart Price, who produced the group's previous album, 2008's Day & Age.

To commemorate their 50th anniversary, the Rolling Stones commissioned Shepard Fairey to update their classic Tongue and Lips logo, originally designed by John Pasche in 1971. Meanwhile, the band is set to convene this month to discuss potential plans to record new material. Keith Richards recently told Rolling Stone, "We're going to talk about that in July and see. I'd love to get some tracks down and see what songs we've got. And that goes along with part of getting the band back together and getting things moving. So I'd love to cut some tracks."

Christina Aguilera is reportedly hard at work on the follow-up to 2010's Bionic album. A source told Billboard that a new single is expected to be released in early August, and the song was produced by Max Martin. Duets with Blake Shelton and Cee Lo Green, Aguilera's fellow coaches on The Voice, are apparently in the works for the singer's forthcoming album as well.

Flo Rida's new album, Wild Ones, drops today, and the rapper is promoting it with several upcoming TV appearances. Flo Rida will do a headlining installment of the Toyota Summer Concert Series on NBC's Today show, slated to air live from New York City’s Rockefeller Plaza on Friday, July 6, and he will then perform on Fox’s Teen Choice Awards on July 22. The emcee is also one of the event's leading nominees, with a trio of nods including Choice R&B/Hip Hop Artist, Choice Single By Male Artist for "Good Feeling" and Choice R&B/Hip Hop Song for "Wild Ones." Meanwhile, Flo Rida kicks off the R You On The List? Tour tonight in Miami with Cee Lo Green and B.o.B.

One Direction fans will soon have a whole new slate of merch to get their hands on. According to Licensing.biz, beginning this fall, One Direction will get their own speakers, microphones, ear buds, walkie talkies, alarm clocks, boom boxes, karaoke machines and a number of other items. The products will be made available in the U.K., U.S., Latin America, Ireland and Canada. The items should coincide with a new single from the British boy band, which is also expected in September.

Jon Bon Jovi has signed on to partner with Avon for a new line of fragrances for men and women. Unplugged For Her will be released in October, followed by Unplugged For Him in November. Bon Jovi will appear in ads for the products as well.

Rob Zombie will offer a new remix album, Mondo Sex Head, on August 7. Zombie says he let the remixers "run wild" for this new effort. "I like the J-Devil remix of 'Thunder Kiss 65.' It is always cool to hear a 20-year old track sound fresh again to a new audience," the rocker/director told Rolling Stone. "I really like the Photek take on 'Living Dead Girl,' which is over seven minutes. Really hypnotic atmospheric and trippy vibe. And Ki:Theory's take on 'Foxy Foxy' adds a deeper groove which really takes the song to another level."

The Jimi Hendrix biopic currently being shot in Ireland, starring Outkast's Andre Benjamin (a.k.a. Andre 3000) as Hendrix, will feature new recordings of Benjamin covering songs like "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band," "Wild Thing" and "Hound Dog," but no actual Hendrix songs. This is because Experience Hendrix LLC, which oversees the Hendrix estate, did not give permission for their copyrights to be used in the film. However, the movie is set in London in 1966 and '67 when Hendrix was largely performing cover songs, before the release of his debut album Are You Experienced? Hence, his hit tracks were not necessarily needed. The movie, dubbed All Is By My Side, is currently shooting in Dublin and producers hope to take the film to Sundance in early 2013 for possible release next year. "Andre has been Jimi for four months now," producer Sean McKittrick told Rolling Stone. "He speaks and walks like Jimi. He dropped a ton of weight. The transformation has been amazing."
