Quick Hits: P!nk, Maroon 5, Serj Tankian, Radiohead & Jack White, Amy Winehouse, Coachella
July 5, 2012

P!nk
In a new YouTube video, P!nk confirms that her new album will be called The Truth About Love and it's coming out on September 18. Her new single, "Blow Me (One Last Kiss)," is due on July 9. The song was written with producer Greg Kurstin (Kelly Clarkson, Lily Allen).

Maroon 5's Overexposed just debuted at #2 on the sales chart this week, but the band already is thinking about its next effort. "I think we're more focused than we've ever been, and all we really are interested in doing now is working on music," guitarist James Valentine told Billboard.com. "Usually we'd be on tour and have fun and come back home and use that time to make a record. Now I think we're just at a point where we feel like there's more music in us than that. I always have my laptop with my recording interface, and there's usually always a few things I'm working on at any given point. So, yeah, we're working on a lot of stuff. I think the next recording's going to be ready a lot sooner than our previous records." Meanwhile, Maroon 5 begins touring in support of Overexposed on July 21 in Stateline, Nevada. The group will play South America and Mexico this summer, with a North American run expected later in the year.

With the release of Serj Tankian's new album, Harakiri, coming up on Tuesday, July 10, fans can now stream the entire album on Red Bull's website. Serj will be performing on the outdoor stage at Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Wednesday, July 11 and at KROQ/Los Angeles' Red Bull Sound Space on Thursday, July 12. Serj and the rest of his bandmates in System of a Down will be performing a handful of dates in August, and he also will play solo at Slipknot's Knotfest on August 16 and 17.

During Radiohead's set at Bonnaroo last month, frontman Thom Yorke dedicated the song "Supercollider" to Jack White and stated, "This song is for Jack White. We're not gonna tell you why, but you'll find out." Many fans assumed a collaboration was in the works, but White says that Radiohead simply recorded at his Third Man Studios in Nashville, although he was not part of the process. "I don't know how much to tell about it except that I didn't play with them or produce it," White told BBC Radio 6. "But they came and recorded at Third Man. I don't know what else they want to be said about that, so that's all I probably can say!"

Amy Winehouse's father, Mitch Winehouse, says that one or two more albums could be released from his late daughter. In an interview with BBC 6 Music, he said that there was more unreleased material which wasn't used on last year's Lioness: Hidden Treasures collection. "I'm not sure that there is much more but I'm sure that we will get at least one other album out, if not two," Winehouse said. "There are loads of covers, loads of them, but the problem is we don't want want to rip anybody off. When her fans are so precious to us we don’t want to put out dross." Earlier this week, Winehouse's duet with rapper Nas appeared online. The track, which is titled "Cherry Wine," will feature on Nas' upcoming album, Life Is Good.

Next year's Coachella festival could be the last in Indio, CA, if the city goes through with a proposed admissions tax. Indio's Desert Sun reports that the festival's promoters will take the event out of Indio if the tax is enacted, which would put a tax of 5 to 10 percent on admissions to entertainment events with more than 2,500 in attendance. Promotions company Goldenvoice, which runs Coachella, says the proposal is a deal-breaker. "If the tax initiative of putting $4 million to $6 million onto Coachella gets on the ballot, we're going to take off 2014," Goldenvoice president Paul Tollett told the Desert Sun. "2015 we'll be at a new facility outside of Indio." At this point the threat is only hypothetical, as city council has rejected councilman's Sam Torres' proposal of the tax. However, voters will have a chance to enact the tax through a ballot initiative.
