Quick Hits: Justin Bieber, The Beatles, Flo Rida, Atlas Genius, Rock Vegas festival, Railroad Revival Tour
July 24, 2012

Justin Bieber
Justin Bieber's epic video for "As Long as You Love Me" is being described as a short film, and it will feature Big Sean and actor Michael Madsen (Reservoir Dogs, Kill Bill). On Monday, Bieber tweeted that he would release a teaser on Wednesday ahead of the video's premiere, which is slated for Friday or Monday. "Should we show a minute snip of #ALAYLM short film on America's got talent this wed then release the video friday or next monday? should we?" Bieber asked his followers. "And yes Michael Madsen is in the #AsLongAsYouLoveMe short film." "As Long as You Love Me" is the second single off Bieber's latest album, Believe. The track features Big Sean and was produced by Rodney "Darkchild" Jerkins.

A new Beatles compilation called Tomorrow Never Knows is being released via iTunes today, encompassing 14 of the Fab Four's "most powerful rock songs," such as "Paperback Writer" and "Back in the USSR." A promo film for the track "Hey Bulldog" also is available to stream or download. Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl penned a note that is posted along with the Beatles compilation, in which he says "If it weren't for The Beatles, I would not be a musician." Grohl continues, "From a very young age I became fascinated with their songs, and over the years have drowned myself in the depth of their catalogue. Their groove and their swagger. Their grace and their beauty. Their dark and their light. The Beatles seemed to be capable of anything. They knew no boundaries, and in that freedom they seemed to define what we now know today as 'Rock and Roll.'"

Flo Rida confirmed rumors that he has a workout DVD on the way, and it could come out as early as the end of the year. "I'm definitely going to do that. I have quite a workout regimen," he told Billboard.com at Sunday's Teen Choice Awards. "I've always been about fitness and my fans can definitely appreciate that."

Atlas Genius will join Silversun Pickups on tour this fall. The run kicks off on September 4 in Vancouver, BC and goes until September 21 in Chicago. Prior to the dates with Silversun Pickups, the Adelaide, Australia-based band will embark on its first-ever U.S. tour, performing at the CD101 Summerfest in Columbus, OH on August 11 and then making its way west. Atlas Genius will play a series of dates with Animal Kingdom and wrap up the tour with radio shows for KNDD/Seattle and KNRK/Portland at the end of August.

The two-day Rock Vegas event - billed as "Sin City's Loudest Two-Day Rock Music Festival" - is set for Friday, September 28 and Saturday, September 29 at Mandalay Bay Resort in Las Vegas. The festival will feature performances from Rob Zombie, Shinedown, Marilyn Manson, Godsmack, Staind, Stone Sour, Papa Roach, Buckcherry, Adelitas Way, All That Remains, P.O.D., Art of Dying, Redlight King, New Medicine, Deuce, Otherwise and more. Two-day and single-day tickets go on sale Saturday, July 28 at 10 a.m. PST. For all info, visit

The Railroad Revival Tour returns in 2012 with Willie Nelson, Band of Horses, Jamey Johnson and John Reilly & Friends crossing the rails for eight shows between Duluth, GA and Oakland, CA. The trek kicks off October 20 at the Southeastern Railway Museum in Duluth and runs through October 28. "Railroad Revival Tour is an experience that transcends typical music tours or festivals and glorifies the historical romance between music and trains under the setting of the great American landscape," reads a statement announcing the tour's second year. Along with individual performances, the tour also promises "spontaneous and unique collaborations onstage as well as on the train between stops."
