Five Finger Death Punch Writing Tunes On Tour
August 7, 2012

Five Finger Death Punch
Five Finger Death Punch is currently headlining the first-ever Trespass America Festival, which travels the country until August 28 in Los Angeles. While the band is busy being the top act on the bill, which also features Killswitch Engage, Pop Evil, God Forbid, Trivium and more, they are also focusing on new material. The group has a ProTools rig and portable studio on the road with them, and they have about six to eight songs in the works for their next record.

"The idea behind that is just to keep the creative muscle worked out. It's just like going to the gym; if you stop for a year, you lose all your strength," 5FDP guitarist Jason Hook told Billboard.com. "It's easy to get lazy and get sort of soft. We're in the business of making music; touring is great, but we should always be prepared and always exercising that creative muscle."

Hook added that the band will probably keep writing for the rest of the year, and then start tracking their fourth album sometime around mid-January. By then, he hopes to have a wealth of material to choose from.
"It's just like anything: if you come in unprepared you get what you get, but if you do a decent amount of preparation, then at least you have options," Hook said. "The records are the launch pad for everything else, and I want to make the records great. If we need 10 killer songs, I'd rather have 30 songs to pick from than have eight and need two desperately at the end. I don't want to make records in a panic."

The group is currently promoting the song "Coming Down," which is the fourth single from their latest album, American Capitalist. Meanwhile, the Trespass America tour continues tonight (8/7) in Oswego, NY.
