Taylor Swift Talks Red Emotions
September 5, 2012

Taylor Swift
When Taylor Swift went to the MTV studios to premiere her new video for "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together," she told fans that the rest of the songs on her Red album will not necessarily sound like her hit single.

"There are 16 songs on the album and every single one of them is about some sort of intense emotion that I felt," she explained during MTV First: Taylor Swift. "Even if it's something like 'We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together,' which is the moment you finally stop caring what your ex thinks about you. Those are all really important moments in the course of a relationship, even though there's nothing else on the record really quite like 'We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together.'" The singer added, "Each song stands on its own musically, sonically and emotionally too. It's kind of a patchwork quilt of all these different styles that have influenced me in one way or another."

While red is a color that personifies the emotions Swift was feeling while writing the album, the color also has become an important part of her image. She is rarely photographed not sporting red somewhere, whether it's her lipstick or her clothes. "I think in terms of, in general, red is just a bold, brave color," she said. "I love red lipstick. I love red dresses. I love red shoes. I love a red stage... red is the theme of the moment."

In other news, Swift will go for her third Entertainer of the Year trophy at this year's Country Music Association Awards. She also is nominated for Female Vocalist of the Year. The 46th annual CMA Awards will be handed out on November 1 in Nashville. But before that, Swift will play at the MTV Video Music Awards on Thursday night. Red is due on October 22.
