2012 NAB Marconi Radio Award Winners Announced

On Thursday night, the 2012 NAB Marconi Radio Award winners were handed out at the Radio Show in Dallas. Established in 1989 and named after inventor and Nobel Prize winner Guglielmo Marconi, the NAB Marconi Radio Awards are given to radio stations and outstanding on-air personalities to recognize excellence in radio. This year's NAB Marconi Radio Award recipients are:

Legendary Station: KSTP/St. Paul, MN
Network/Syndicated Personality of the Year: Dan Patrick,
DirectTV/Premiere Networks
Major Market Station of the Year: WTOP/Washington, D.C.
Large Market Station of the Year: KSON/San Diego
Medium Market Station of the Year: WHO-AM/Des Moines
Small Market Station of the Year: WVAQ/Morgantown, WV
Major Market Personality of the Year: Mike Francesa, WFAN-AM/New York
Large Market Personality of the Year: Moon and Staci, KSTP/St. Paul, MN
Medium Market Personality of the Year: Jan Mickelson, WHO-AM/Des Moines
Small Market Personality of the Year: Scotty and Carissa In The Morning, KCLR/Columbia, MO
Country Station of the Year: WYCD/Detroit
News/Talk Station of the Year: WTOP-FM/Washington, D.C.
Oldies Station of the Year: WOGL/Philadelphia
Religious Station of the Year: KLTY/Dallas
Rock Station of the Year: KINK/Portland, OR
Spanish Station of the Year: KMVK/Dallas
Sports Station of the Year: WEEI/Boston
Urban Station of the Year: WBLS/New York

Marconi finalists were selected by a task force of broadcasters, and the winners were voted on by the NAB Marconi Radio Awards Selection Academy. The votes were tabulated by an independent firm.

The NAB Marconi Radio Awards Dinner & Show was hosted by Edgar "Shoboy" Sotelo of CBS Radio's KMVK/Dallas. The show also featured a performance by Melissa Etheridge.
