Foo Fighters, Black Keys Rock For Poverty

The massive Global Citizen Festival took place in New York's Central Park on Saturday, where Foo Fighters, Black Keys, Neil Young, K'Naan and Band of Horses all played for the Global Poverty Project as part of its campaign to end extreme poverty around the world. All acts delivered powerful sets, and Dave Grohl added fuel to the rumors that Foo Fighters will be taking a much-deserved break for a spell. He never implied that his band would be breaking up, only that it will be a while before fans see them play live again.

"Without making a big deal out of it, we don't have any shows after this. This is it, man," Grohl said before the band ripped into "Learn to Fly," according to a Billboard.com report. "Honestly, I don't know when we're gonna do it again... and this is the perfect place to do it." The Foos also rolled out hits like "Times Like These," "All My Life," "My Hero" and "Best of You," and before set closer "Everlong," Grohl added, "I don't know when, but we'll see you again."

The Black Keys entertained the crowd of 60,000 fans on Central Park's Great Lawn with songs like "Howlin' For You," "Next Girl," "Just The Same Old Thing," "Gold on the Ceiling," "Little Black Submarines" and "Lonely Boy," plus many more tunes from their extensive catalog. "What an amazing thing. This feels great up here," frontman Dan Auerbach told the audience.

Neil Young and Crazy Horse played a signature jam-heavy set, opening with a 14-minute version of "Love and Only Love" from 1990's Ragged Glory. Young also offered a brand new song off Psychedelic Pill, "Walk Like a Giant," which was only officially unveiled a few days ago. Fans also got to hear a few older tunes like the live gem "Powderfinger," "The Needle and the Damage Done," and an all-star finale of "Rockin' in the Free World" featuring Dave Grohl and Dan Auerbach.

The day also saw a surprise appearance from John Legend, who performed John Lennon's "Imagine," and a taped message and special music video from Beyoncé. The goal of the event for the Global Poverty Project was to raise awareness and inspire activism on the issues of extreme poverty, clean water access, malaria and polio eradication.
