Pandora Announces Sept. Metrics, Lawsuit Over Facebook Integration Tossed
October 4, 2012

Pandora has released its latest audience metrics, via its own data, for the month of September. According to the digital music service, its listener hours last month were 1.15 billion, an increase of 67 percent from 687 million during the same period last year, but down slightly from 1.16 billion in August.

Pandora's share of total U.S. radio listening in September was 6.53 percent, an increase from 4.03 percent at the same time last year, and up from 6.3 percent in August 2012. Active listeners were 58.3 million at the end of September 2012, an increase of 49 percent from 39 million during the same time period last year, also an increase from 56.2 million at the end of August.

In other Pandora news, a lawsuit over Facebook integration against the service has been thrown out of court. CNet reports that a federal court tossed the suit, which claimed the integration between Pandora and Facebook violated privacy laws. However, U.S. District Judge Saundra Armstrong ruled that the suit, which relied on an pre-Internet state privacy law from 1988, did not permit such a lawsuit and didn't apply to the case.
