Quick Hits: Rihanna, Selena Gomez, Hollywood Undead, John Mellencamp & T Bone Burnett, The Beatles
November 15, 2012

Rihanna is bringing her Diamonds World Tour to Europe in 2013. The trek, which begins on March 8 in Buffalo, NY, is scheduled to stop in more than 28 cities across North America prior to its European takeover. The European jaunt starts in Bilbao, Spain on May 26 and runs through July 26 in Bergen, Norway. Rihanna's new album, Unapologetic, is due on November 19.

Selena Gomez is set to release her next album in March 2013, according to a tweet from Ryan Seacrest. Seacrest spent Wednesday with Gomez in Dallas for an event tied to his Ryan Foundation, where he tweeted "@selenagomez just told me new album in march fyi," including a photo of himself with the smiling singer. Back in June, Gomez remarked to MTV News that her next musical work would sound different. "I want to go for producers that probably wouldn't want me to do their songs. I just want to knock on their door," she said. "I also want to work with fun. I want to work with different styles of music. I just want to do different things for this album."

Hollywood Undead have selected M. Shawn Crahan (a.k.a. Slipknot's Clown) to direct the video for their new single, "We Are," from the forthcoming album Notes From The Underground. The album is due in January. "We are very excited to be working with someone that thinks as progressively about their art as we do," vocalist Da Kurlzz said about Crahan. "Clown is a great director, and together we are going to deliver something truly memorable."

A collaboration musical between Stephen King, John Mellencamp and T Bone Burnett, dubbed Ghost Brothers of Darkland County, will be released on March 19, 2013 via Hear Music/Concord Music Group. The project is described as "a southern gothic supernatural musical" that features original music and lyrics plus key dialog excerpts performed by a stellar cast of guest artists including Elvis Costello, Rosanne Cash, Sheryl Crow, Neko Case, Taj Mahal, Ryan Bingham and Kris Kristofferson, along with actors Matthew McConaughey, Samantha Mathis and Meg Ryan. Ghost Brothers of Darkland County will be available across a variety of digital formats, as well as a Standard Edition and a two-CD/one-DVD Deluxe Edition that contains the complete soundtrack (with and without dialog), deluxe artwork, handwritten lyrics, specially printed libretto and the Making of Ghost Brothers mini-documentary DVD featuring in-depth interviews with King, Mellencamp and Burnett along with other bonus material.

Apple Corps reportedly has given permission for production company OVOW to start searching for amateur and professionally-shot footage of the Beatles from their tours of the 1960s in order to make a new concert film. The project will be called The Beatles Live!, according to TheWrap.com. OVOW says it has commissioned worldwide research teams and developed social-media tools to work with fans and concertgoers in all 116 cities where the Beatles performed in order to get material for the film. It ultimately will combine live footage, images, music, interviews and stories chronicling the Fab Four’s 250 concerts from October 1963 through final concert in San Francisco’s Candlestick Park on August 28, 1966.
