Pio Ferro Named PD Of WPOW (Power 96)/Miami
November 15, 2012

Pio Ferro
Beasley Broadcast Group-Miami names Pio Ferro as PD of CHR WPOW (Power 96). His first day on the job will be this Monday, November 19. Ferro will report to Beasley-Miami VP/Market Manager Joe Bell.

Most recently, Ferro was CBS Radio’s VP of Hispanic Programming in Dallas, a position he has held since 2009. The move to Power 96 brings Pio back to his South Florida roots. A Miami native, Pio began his radio career began at WXDJ at the age of 15, and eventually served as PD/morning host by the time he was 20 years old. Ferro then moved to Los Angeles as PD/afternoon talent on KLVE until 2000, when he became VP/National Program Director for Spanish Broadcasting System.

While in L.A., Ferro connected with longtime Beasley and Power 96 consultant Bill Tanner. Ferro says, "Bill and I met in 1992 when I was with WXDJ, but we started working together at KLVE in L.A. and we were a strong and successful team. I’m honored to be re-connecting with him back in South Florida. I was raised on Power 96, it has been my goal to lead this station’s programming ever since I became a Program Director in 1993."

Tanner comments, "Not only is Pio one of the best PD’s I’ve ever known, he’s also one of the best people." VP/Market Manager Bell adds, "Pio Ferro is a Miami guy whose entire career has been preparing him for a return to his hometown to lead Power 96 to new heights."

"For the past few weeks," says Ferro, "I've been waking up in the middle of the night excited about this opportunity and I'm beyond thrilled that the time has finally arrived to bring my wife, Yanet, and our four children back home to Miami and Power 96."
