American Idol winner Phillip Phillips earned a nice album debut this week as his first effort, The World From the Side of the Moon, bowed at #4 by selling 169,000 copies. The album posted the second-biggest first-week sales for an AI winner since David Cook in 2008, and the hit single, "Home," is currently #3 on the iTunes singles chart. Now, Phillips is ready to see the world from the stage as he's thinking about his first headline tour.
"The tour is in the works, it's going to happen early next year, like around February or so," he told MTV News. "We're still planning it out, I think we're going to keep it just me and the band, doing something like that. It's going to be a lot of fun and I'm just hoping people will want to come out to it."
Phillips also spoke about the success of "Home," which has gone double-Platinum since he first performed it on Idol. "It's been overwhelming. It's changed my whole life. It was in the Olympics, movies, commercials, who knows what else," Phillips said. "But it's done so well and it's helped so many people out; you know, I've seen it's helped the Hurricane victims and I've seen life situations where it's helped people out... people really seem to connect to it, which is amazing."
