Clear Channel is undergoing another round of company-wide layoffs today. A statement from the company attributes these latest cutbacks to "constantly looking at all aspects of our business to ensure that it reflects how the best organizations work today, taking advantage of the latest cutting-edge technology and organizational structure so we can continue to operate as effectively and efficiently as possible."

  • After over two decades at AC KOST/Los Angeles, PD Stella Prado exits. She was named PD in 2004.
  • FMQB has confirmed a number of layoffs at the Detroit cluster, including Sports WDFN PD/afternoon host Eric Chase. Also exiting are Urban AC WMXD (Mix 92.3) afternoon host Frankie Darcell, CHR WKQI midday host Jag, AC WNIC afternoon host/Classic Rock WDTW APD Kristin Burns, WNIC morning show members Jenna Cork and Dan Watkins and WDTW afternoon host Dave Dahmer. WNIC part-timer Danielle Car also exits.
  • Longtime Modern Rock KDGE/Dallas mainstay Josh Venable exits as well. Venable was MD/middays at The Edge, as well as host of the long-running "Adventure Club" specialty show. He can be reached at joshvenable@gmail.com.
  • Also at CCM+E-Dallas, Producer Adrian Hummel exits. Hummel worked in multiple capacities for CHR KHKS and Modern Rock KDGE.
  • Michael Yo exits CHR WHYI (Y100)/Miami, where he held down afternoons. Yo spent a dozen years at Y100/Miami.
  • CCM+E Triple A KBCO/Denver-Boulder morning show producer Chris Griffin has left the building. Reach Griffin at (303) 807-4355. KBCO part-timer Joe Niko exits as well. Also in Denver, Active Rock KBPI afternoon driver Uncle Nasty and overnight host Eddie have exited.
  • Triple A KTCZ (Cities 97)/Minneapolis MD and midday host Thorn is out.
  • Rock WEBN/Cincinnati afternoon driver Jay Gilbert exits and can be reached at JGtheDJ@aol.com. Gilbert was a mainstay at WEBN for decades. Fellow 'EBN veteran, Creative Services Director Joel Moss, also exits amid CC cutbacks.
  • CHR WAKS/Cleveland APD/MD/afternoon drive host Kasper exits. He can be reached at kaspershow@gmail.com or 440-221-7543.
  • AC WMGF/Orlando PD and afternoon host Ken Payne exits. Also in Orlando, Talk WTKS PD Catherine Brown is out, along with midday producer Bull and night host Cabin Boy. Active Rock WJRR night jock LT exits as well.
  • At Classic Rock KKRW/Houston, morning producer Josh Reno exits.
  • Talk WFLA-AM & Sports WDAE-AM/Tampa PD Steve Versnick has exited.
  • Rhythmic CHR KGGI/Riverside-San Bernadino PD Jesse Duran exits, along with the cluster Market Manager Bob Ridzak.
  • After five years as a part-timer at Modern Rock WRFF/Philadelphia and four before as a WZZO/Allentown weekender, Bob Stei is looking for his next gig. An FMQB alumni, Stei has also worked on-air at WBAB/Long Island and is open to any part-time work within a few hours of the Philadelphia vicinity.   • Classic Rock KZEP/San Antonio afternoon drive host Brian Kendell exits, along with at least two other behind-the-scenes CCM+E employees.
  • In Austin, Joel Burke exits as PD of both Country KASE and KVET, as well as afternoon host on KASE.
  • Sports KFXN/Minneapolis morning co-host Mike Morris is out.
  • At CCM+E-Columbus, Oldies WODC morning host Andy Clark, midday host Amy Donovan and afternoon driver Kevin Kirschner all exit, along with sister Country WCOL PD John Crenshaw.

Tony Matteo, PD for Clear Channel Media and Entertainment Adult Hits WHLK/Cleveland, has been named OM of the company's Wichita cluster, effective January 2.
 
Amber Huyghe sheds the "interim" and is officially named PD at CHR WZRT/Rutland, VT. Huyghe, who had been handling programming duties since the October exit of Kwame "KD" Dankwa for the night night gig at CHR KWNW/Memphis, will retain her MD duties as well as afternoons.

Rock WAAF/Boston names Andrew Tartaglia as GSM, effective December 17.

Current.org is reporting Kathyrn "Kit" Jensen, COO of noncommercial WCPN, Classical WCLV and PBS affiliate WVIZ-TV/Cleveland, has been elected Chair of the Board of Directors of National Public Radio. Jensen will replace Milwaukee Public Radio's Dave Edwards.

CBS Sports Radio rounds out its new national lineup with the team of Chris Moore and Brian Jones as its weeknight hosts. Moore and Jones will be heard nights from 6-10 p.m., starting Wednesday, January 2.

The SiriusXM Board of Directors has approved a $2 million buyback of the company's common stock. Liberty Media, which is closing in on becoming the satcaster's majority owner, says it will participate in the buyback on a pro rata basis, so its relative ownership interest will not be affected by the program.

In a speech on Wednesday, Sen. Greg Walden (R-OR) said he would continue to push for the FCC Process Reform Act, which passed the House but not the Senate this year. The Hill notes that the bill would require the FCC to prove the necessity of new regulations, restrict conditions the Commission could put on corporate mergers and require specific timelines to be set. Walden claims the legislation would created greater transparency in the FCC.

The Conclave announces its 2013 Radio and Music Industry Scholarship Program, worth over $50,000. Since 1979, the Conclave in keeping with its mission of educating the broadcast industry has awarded over $1 million in scholarships to worthy students desiring an education in the radio and music industries. The Gores Group announces a $225 million deal to buy Harris' broadcast division. Harris announced earlier this year that it would be selling its broadcasting division to focus on its other businesses.

Clear Channel Media and Entertainment and DashGo, Inc., a digital content distribution and marketing engine for labels, podcasters and artists, announce an agreement to "help drive growth and innovation in Internet radio." As part of this new relationship, DashGo will share in Clear Channel’s terrestrial broadcast revenues, aligning the business interests of both companies and helping to build a sustainable market in Internet radio. DashGo works with independent artists, labels, and content owners to distribute content across a range of digital music stores, ad-supported services and social networks—including YouTube and iTunes— with integrated analytics tools for tracking results.

iBiquity announces more automakers adding HD Radio technology to their vehicles, including the 2014 RLX Acura, the 2014 Ford Fiesta, 2013 Hyundai Santa Fe, three Mazda models, Misubishi's 2014 Outlander and the 2014 Subraru Forester.
