Republic Records Names Toby Russell VP Of Top 40 Promotion
December 10, 2012

Toby Russell
Republic Records has named Toby Russell as VP of Top 40 Promotion. As Senior National Director of Top 40 Radio since 2010, Russell has been highly integral to the radio campaigns for Enrique Iglesias, Nicki Minaj, Drake, Jesse J, The Band Perry, Owl City and more. Russell recently directed the Top 40 campaigns for Gotye, Alex Claire, PSY, Austin Mahone and others on the Republic roster.

Republic Founder/CEO Monte Lipman commented, "Radio's importance can't be stressed enough, and Toby has consistently delivered for our entire roster. His leadership and determination for breaking new acts is inspiring; he is a true trendsetter that fits our mold of Breaking New Artists."

Russell added, "As a true music lover, I consider myself lucky to introduce and expose new music to radio and the public at large. To me, there is nothing better than watching a radio station embrace a song; thus start an act’s career. The entire process is inspiring! The challenge to make this happen has never been harder, but at Republic we’ve been fortunate enough to get great music and amazing leadership from Monte and Avery Lipman. I want to express my gratitude to Joel Klaiman for his years of encouraging and holding me to the highest standards, and I look forward to continuing my work with great partners in Gary Spangler, David Nathan and the entire Republic Promotion Team on our future history together!"

Russell became a part of the Republic Records family in 2006 as Southeast Regional Director of Promotion. Soon after, he became Head of AAA Promotion where he spearheaded campaigns for Amy Winehouse, Colbie Caillat and others. He was elevated to Senior National Director of Top 40 in 2010. Prior to working at the label, he was a founding partner of CO5 Music based in NYC. While living in NYC, he also served as East Coast Label Director for Ultimatum Music. He started his career in Nashville at Columbia/Epic Records then moved to EMI Music Distribution as a Marketing Representative. In his new role, he will be based out of Atlanta and NYC.
