In a new interview with CNBC, former SiriusXM CEO Mel Karmazin discussed his future plans, saying he is now in his "second retirement" but expressing that he would like to head up a media company once again. In the interview, Karmazin said he hopes to eventually have a "third" retirement, following his next job.
Karmazin said specifically he is looking for an executive position at a publicly-held company with an independent board of directors, but at a smaller-scale company with "turnaround" opportunities.
Karmazin also told CNBC that if he doesn't find a new media executive position, he would offer to aid Governor Chris Christie in helping to rebuild the parts of New Jersey hurt by Hurricane Sandy. Karmazin half-jokingly said, "I would be the czar or the pope of the Jersey Shore."
