Katy Perry, Usher And More Rock Inaugural Weekend
January 21, 2013

The inaugural festivities for President Obama kicked off over the weekend, as Katy Perry, Usher, Mindless Behavior, Far East Movement and the cast from Glee pleased the crowd at Saturday's Kids' Inaugural Concert, where they rocked out with Sasha and Malia Obama. Perry headlined the show in a patriotic red, white and blue costume, performing hits like "Teenage Dream," "Wide Awake" and "Part of Me" at the Washington Convention Center. She closed the show with a rousing rendition of "Firework," after giving the President a shout out for four more years. For his set, Usher offered hits such as "Yeah!," "Without You" and "OMG." Nick Cannon emceed the evening.

Many other inaugural parties hit Washington, DC over the weekend as well, with T-Pain, Common and John Legend performing at the Generation Now Inaugural Youth Ball; Lynyrd Skynyrd playing the Heroes Red, White, And Blue Inaugural Ball; and will.i.am rocking the 2013 Green Inaugural Ball. Furthermore, John Legend was given the humanitarian award at the Hip-Hop Inaugural Ball, and pioneers MC Lyte and Doug E. Fresh were both given lifetime achievement awards. 2 Chainz also earned the street soldier award for encouraging young voters as a spokesperson for the Hip-Hop Caucus' "Respect My Vote!" campaign.

As the inauguration continues today, many more artists will get a chance to serenade the President. As Obama took his place on the steps of the U.S. Capitol this morning to be sworn in to office, James Taylor sang "America the Beautiful." Following Obama's inaugural address, Kelly Clarkson sang "My Country 'Tis of Thee." Beyoncé closed out the ceremony with the national anthem. Tonight will be the time for the official Inaugural Ball for White House staffers, where Lady Gaga is rumored to be a surprise performer, according to reports.
