January 22, 2013

Paramore
Paramore has revealed "NOW," the lead single off the band's upcoming self-titled record. You can hear the new song here. The 17-song tracklist to Paramore, the band's first release as a trio, has also been unveiled, featuring new tracks such as "Fast In My Car," "Daydreaming," "Anklebiters" and "(One Of Those) Crazy Girls."

The 2013 Governors Ball Music Festival lineup has been released – it's monumental and contains such a variety of bands that it should be enjoyable to any ticket holder. Kanye West and Kings of Leon will be headlining along with an unannounced third act yet to be revealed. Other artists performing are Nas, Kendrick Lamar, Animal Collective, The Avett Brothers, The xx, Beach House, Grizzly Bear, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, Feist, Death From Above 1979, Crystal Castles, Azealia Banks, Local Natives, Cut Copy, Young the Giant, Dirty Projectors, Bloc Party, Gary Clark, Jr., Miguel, Twin Shadow, Japandroids, Alt-J, Divine Fits, Dinosaur Jr., Yeasayer, Best Coast, Thievery Corporation, The Lumineers, Of Monsters and Men, The Vaccines, Polica and many, many more. The festival will be held June 7-9 at Randall's Island in New York City.

Justin Bieber is setting more Internet-centric records – again. His music video for "Baby" may only be second to "Gangnam Style" in views on YouTube, but he has surpassed Lady Gaga on Twitter as having the most followers. Though it's a narrow margin between Bieber's followers (33,341,838 as of this afternoon) and Gaga's followers (33,332,774). Gaga did not seem upset about losing her throne as Queen of Twitter, having tweeted on January 15, "So proud of @justinbieber and all the Beliebers! I'm only happy to see your fans growing in size, you all deserve it! Monsters support you." Bieber is releasing his Believe Acoustic album on January 29, which will have acoustic versions of both old and new songs.

More details have been revealed about the return of The Postal Service. Sub Pop will be releasing a Deluxe 10th Anniversary Edition of their only album, Give Up. The remastered original album will also contain a bonus disc of 15 additional tracks with two new songs, covers of Postal Service tracks, remixes and more. It will be available April 8 in the UK/Europe and April 9 in North America. Performance dates and festivals have reportedly been accumulating for 2013, but singer Ben Gibbard has repeatedly stated that there are still no plans for another Postal Service album.

The Joy Formidable's second album Wolf's Law was released today on Canvasback Music/Atlantic Records and the Welsh trio has announced a North American headlining tour. The trek begins on March 18 in Santa Ana, CA with dates announced up to April 21 in Washington, D.C.

Kobalt has inked a deal with Dave Grohl for worldwide administration rights to all music from the Foo Fighter. This includes his contributions to Nirvana and Them Crooked Vultures, as well as the upcoming Sound City soundtrack. Billboard.biz reports Kobalt will handle all synch and creative opportunities for Grohl's music. The deal begins in 2014.

Vampire Weekend has announced on their website that their next album (title yet to be revealed) will be released May 7. The group tweeted simply "LP3 complete. May 7th" this morning. Band member Rostam Batmanglij described the album to Spin, saying, "On this album, there's a lot of organic sounds and a lot of performance. You want the personality of each performer — whether it's singing or bass or drums or piano — to be intact. In some ways it's much more challenging to preserve that and to also make music that sounds modern. The way this album sounds is the product of thinking forward and being fearless in terms of mixing and production, going for something that hasn't been done before but using elements and techniques that have existed for years and years, pushing them as far as they can go."

If you didn't get the chance to see Guns N' Roses play at the Hard Rock Hotel during their stay in Las Vegas, or if you want to relive the experience, the band will be releasing a 3D film of their "Appetite For Democracy" concert. The 3D film will be released in theaters, DVD and TV at some point in 2013. Guns N' Roses released a clip of the film showing a performance of their legendary song "Paradise City" via YouTube.

The Roots are going back to their roots in Philadelphia with their 6th Annual Roots Picnic. The show will be held at the Festival Pier in Philadelphia on June 1 with performances by The Roots, Gary Clark Jr., Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Grimes, Naughty By Nature (backed by The Roots), Solange and more. In other Roots news, drummer Questlove tells Billboard that the band is collaborating on a new record with Elvis Costello, expected out later in 2013. The band connected with Costello when collaborating on his appearances on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.
