Expect music industry executive extraordinaire Charlie Walk to join Republic Records as EVP of the label next week...official announcement coming soon. Walk most recently headed up his own company JWALK, a full service marketing agency specializing in the digital and social network fields as well as an artist management firm. Walk also formerly spent most of his career in various top executive positions at Columbia and Epic Records.
Gavin Spittle has been named VP of News/Talk/Sports Programming for CBS Radio-Dallas-Fort Worth. Spittle will oversee the programming and operations for KRLD-FM (105.3 The FAN) , KRLD-AM (NewsRadio 1080) and the Texas State Networks beginning February 4. He returns to the market after three and a half years as PD for CBS Sports KILT-AM (SportsRadio 610)/Houston, where he was also responsible for the Houston Texans Radio Network.
Kay Thomas joins Adult Hits WWLB/Richmond for middays. Thomas was most recently heard on Classic Hits WWUZ/Fredericksburg.

CBS Radio flips Talk WNEW (1580 Gov Biz Radio)/Washington, DC to an affiliate of the new CBS Sports Radio network, CBS Sports Radio 1580. The new format, which debuts on Monday (1/28) will serve as a sister to Sports WJFK-FM (106.7 The Fan).
Sun Broadcasting Group welcomes Network and local radio programming vet Jim Watkins as VP of Programming. Watkins comes on board from the Director of Affiliate Relations and Executive Producer post for Talk Radio Network.
With Liberty Media becoming the majority owner of SiriusXM, the satcaster's Board of Directors has changed. Three board members exit, with four new ones appointed by Liberty. Exiting are Leon Black of Apollo Global Management, Lawrence Gilberti and former DirecTV executive Jack Shaw. Mel Karmazin is also no longer a member of the SiriusXM board, following his exit as CEO. Joining the SiriusXM board are Liberty SVP Mark Carleton, Liberty VP Robin Pringle, former Liberty general counsel Charles Tanabe and recently appointed SiriusXM CEO Jim Meyer.
Industry legend Clive Davis has been named as a featured speaker for SXSW in Austin, TX on Thursday, March 14 from 2-3 p.m. Davis is currently Chief Creative Officer for Sony Music Entertainment. His autobiography, The Soundtrack Of My Life, is due out February 19.
