Rapper A$AP Rocky tops the sales chart this week with his debut album, Long.Live.A$AP, selling 139,000 copies in its opening frame, according to Nielsen SoundScan. Long.Live.A$AP is the first debut album to hit #1 on the chart since 2 Chainz's Based On a T.R.U. Story achieved the feat on September 1, 2012. Long.Live.A$AP also is one of only two new debuts in the Top 10 this week. The other is Kidz Bop 23, which launches at #2 with 78,000 sold -- the best sales week for an album in the Kidz Bop series since 2006. Kidz Bop 23 also marks the fifth #2 set for the long-running franchise, according to Billboard.com.
Meanwhile, the Pitch Perfect soundtrack rises to #3 with 45,000 sold, while Taylor Swift's Red is steady at #4 with 41,000. Bruno Mars' Unorthodox Jukebox holds the #5 slot with 39,000, and the Les Miserables film soundtrack is at #6 this week with just under 39,000 sold. The Lumineers' self-titled album hits a new peak, moving up to #7 by shifting 38,000 units.
Phillip Phillips is back in the Top 10 with The World From the Side of the Moon, which moves up to #8 this week with just over 25,000 sold. Mumford & Sons'Babel is going strong at #9 with 25,000, and One Direction's Take Me Home fills out the Top 10 by shifting another 23,000 copies.
