January 29, 2013

Todd von Mende
Todd von Mende has been appointed Chief Financial Officer for Capitol Music Group, it was announced today by Chairman/CEO Steve Barnett, to whom von Mende will report. In his new position, von Mende will serve as a senior member of the company’s management team and oversee all financial strategy and functions for the Group and each of its divisions. He will also liaise with his counterparts and the senior financial team at Universal Music Group, Capitol’s parent company. He will be based in Hollywood, at the company’s iconic Capitol Tower.

Barnett commented, "Todd’s financial acumen and leadership skills have been highly regarded within the Universal Music Group for many years. I couldn’t be happier that he is now a member of my senior management team and will be playing such an important role in the growth and development of Capitol Music Group."

Boyd Muir, EVP/CFO of UMG says, "I'm particularly pleased that we can rely on someone as financially accomplished as Todd to work with Steve and the team at Capitol Music Group in this incredibly exciting time of revitalization for the company. I congratulate Todd on this well-deserved promotion."

Added von Mende himself, "I’m thrilled to be working alongside Steve Barnett and the incredible team he is building to revitalize Capitol Music Group and position us for great success in the ever-challenging music business. It is truly an honor to work with all of the new and developing artists that will define our company in the coming years, as well as the established and heritage artists that are such an important part of Capitol’s legacy. I want to thank Jim Urie for his guidance and leadership throughout my years at UMGD, and Boyd Muir for his confidence in steering my career, both of which have led me to this great opportunity of working with Steve Barnett at the Capitol Music Group."

Prior to this promotion, von Mende served as CFO for Universal Music Group Distribution overseeing all financial activities, and most recently headed the North America EMI/UMG integration efforts. He joined UMG in 2001 as VP of North America Finance and Planning, where he was responsible for the financial management of all North American operations. Prior to UMG, he began his career as with The Walt Disney Company in the Home Entertainment division.
