As first reported yesterday, Cumulus-Atlanta is merging its two Rock stations on the 100.5 frequency. The Active Rock format of WWWQ-HD2 (98.9 The Bone) will merge onto WNNX (Rock 100.5). Rock 100.5 morning team The Regular Guys will remain onboard, with midday hostess Lyndsay Marie on-air after them. The changeover began with Metallica's "Enter Sandman" just after 10 a.m.
Axel Lowe, PD for The Bone, becomes PD on 100.5 and will also handle afternoons. Lowe was on-air this morning with The Regular Guys to discuss the change. On The Bone's Facebook page this morning, Lowe wrote, "Make sure you lock it to 100.5, this simulcast ends Monday. A BIGGER - BETTER Bone, now on Rock 100.5! I can't wait for you to hear the music."
Cumulus is expected to flip the HD2/translator frequency of 98.9 to a new format on Monday morning, following a simulcast on both stations all weekend.
