Island Def Jam has named Cheryl Broz as Sr. Director of Triple A Promotion, based in Nashville.

Following a report from Politico that the House of Representatives has blocked use of Spotify within its networks, RIAA Chairman/CEO Cary Sherman has sent a letter to the House, requesting the block be lifted. In a brief letter to Dan Strodel, the House’s Chief Administrative Officer, Sherman said Spotify is a "licensed, secure online music streaming service" and should not be treated the same as file-sharing P2P sites.

The Big Machine Label Group has promoted GM Andrew Kautz to COO. In this newly-created position, Kautz will continue to oversee all operations of the label, spearheading the company’s financial, legal, administrative and business development processes. Kautz is one of Big Machine's original employees from when the company opened in 2005.

Billboard.biz reports that there are three bidders left to acquire AEG: a group made up of Ron Burkle with Patrick Soon-Shiong and Goldman Sachs; Guggenheim Partners; and ColonyCapital and Qatar Sovereign Fund. A deal could be done to buy the concert promoter as soon as late March.

Arbitron announces that effective with the February 2013 PPM report period, stations that begin simulcasting after the start of a quarter will be eligible for Total Line Reporting (TLR) in the Arbitron local PPM Radio Market Report and PPM Weeklies services for any PPM report month during which the stations simulcast 100%. Previously, stations had to simulcast for the entire quarter in order to be eligible to receive TLR.
