Beyoncé To Sing Live At Super Bowl

After catching a bit of flack for lip-synching the National Anthem at the inauguration of President Obama last week, Beyoncé has assured fans that she will be singing live at the Super Bowl halftime show this weekend. At a press conference held on Thursday afternoon, Beyoncé took the stage and asked those in attendance to stand, as she began singing an a cappella version of the song. When asked about the lip-sync controversy, the singer explained, "I am a perfectionist, and one thing about me, I practice until my feet bleed. And I did not have time to rehearse with the orchestra… Due to the weather, due to the delay, due to no proper sound-check, I did not feel comfortable taking a risk." She also declared, "I will absolutely be singing live [at the Super Bowl]. I am well-rehearsed. I will absolutely be singing live, and this is what I was born to do."

Aside from that small tidbit, Bey would not give any other information about the performance. It has been widely rumored that Destiny's Child will reunite as part of the set, but Beyoncé said only, "I can't really give you any details. I'm sorry." However, she did hint at an important announcement immediately following the halftime show. The singer was asked when she will return to the road for a proper tour, and she responded, "I would say 'soon.' And I may have an announcement after the performance, and the fans should just stay tuned to see."

During the press conference, it also was confirmed that Jennifer Hudson is scheduled to perform "America the Beautiful" with the Sandy Hook Elementary School chorus before Sunday's game. The chorus will perform directly before Alicia Keys sings the National Anthem.

Beyoncé also talked a bit about her HBO documentary, Life Is But A Dream, which will debut on February 16. "Editing myself and seeing all the mistakes that I've made and still putting in the film and seeing life as if it wasn't me... and I feel like it's time, it's time for people to really get to know me and see a different side," she explained to the room of reporters about the special. "I'm really curious and scared and every night now [I go,] 'It's too late. It's coming out.' But I'm happy with it."
