Justin Bieber Hits #1 Yet Again
February 6, 2013

Justin Bieber
Justin Bieber achieves his fifth #1 album this week as Believe Acoustic debuts in the top spot with 211,000 units sold, according to Nielsen SoundScan. This makes Bieber the first artist in history to score five #1 albums before his 19th birthday (he turns 19 on March 1), according to Billboard.com. It also gives Bieber a #1 album in four consecutive years, which is something only nine earlier acts have accomplished. Believe Acoustic performed strongly with digital retailers, as 75 percent of its sales were generated by downloads.

Bieber scored big in a week where the chart is rife with new debuts. Andrea Bocelli, Tegan and Sara, and Charlie Wilson all bowed at #2 - #4, respectively. Bocelli collects his seventh Top 10 set with Passione, shifting 94,000 copies at #2. Tegan and Sara enter at #3 with Heartthrob, moving a career-high 49,000 units. That number far out-does their previous best sales week, when 2009's Sainthood bowed at #21 with 24,000 sold. Rounding out the four new debuts is R&B veteran Wilson, who starts off at #4 with Love, Charlie, selling 44,000. This marks the third solo Top 10 set for the former Gap Band frontman.

As for the rest of the Top 10, t he Pitch Perfect soundtrack is #5 this week with 37,000, Bruno Mars' Unorthodox Jukebox is #6 with just under 37,000, and Mumford & Sons' Babel is #7 with 36,000 sold. Last week's #1 effort, Gary Allan's Set You Free, falls to #8 this week with 34,000 sold, and The Lumineers are #9 with their self-titled album, selling another 32,000 copies. Taylor Swift's Red rounds out the Top 10 with 29,000.
