At Journal Broadcast Group CHR KSPW/Springfield, PD/afternoon host Simon Nytes has been let go after it was discovered that Nytes had faked his military service. A posting on the station's Facebook page states,  "We are disappointed that our employee misrepresented himself as someone who had served in the military. It is unacceptable behavior. Further, Journal Broadcast Group is committed to ethical relationships with our listeners, clients and community. Specifically regarding the unacceptable behavior, that employee has been terminated. Finally, we value and are grateful for the service of our military personnel across all branches, and have the utmost respect for the sacrifices made by so many of our military personnel and their families."

The Detroit News reports that Urban WMXD/Detroit fills its afternoon opening with the addition of Urban sister WDAS/Philadelphia afternoon talent Frankie Darcell who will simulcast her show from 3-7 p.m. on WMXD.

Rich "Brother" Robbin joins the on-air line-up at Classic Hits XHPRS/San Diego. Robbin will handle the 2-7 p.m. shift effective February 11.

Merilee Kelly is named Programming Coordinator at Rock WPXC and Adult Hits WFRQ/Cape Cod.

Trevor Oliver exits the SVP/Operations post at Premiere Networks.

Dial Global has shut down the American Comedy Network. The network, which launched in 1984, was started by former DJs as a syndication service that provided comedy material to radio stations.

CBS Radio's Radio.com announces its "Radio.com-A-Thon," celebrating Grammy weekend. Beginning today, the site is streaming "Inside The Album Of The Year," a look at the five artists nominated for the top prize at this year’s Grammy Awards. The video series focuses on The Black Keys, fun., Mumford & Sons, Frank Ocean and Jack White with a panel of music experts and industry authorities. Tomorrow night (2/8) at 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. ET, The Lumineers will take the stage for a Radio.com exclusive event. The band will webcast a private show live from the Grammy Museum in Los Angeles. And Bon Jovi will live stream the first half hour of their Because We Can – The Tour opener at Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, CT on Saturday, February 9, at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT.

The Radio Advertising Bureau (RAB) will present six revenue-oriented sales and marketing sessions at this year’s NAB Show to be held in Las Vegas April 6-11. The six sessions, led by the RAB Professional Development team, feature an array of radio sales and marketing executives who will share their insights on increasing radio revenue in today’s vast media landscape "Our goal is to provide the necessary tools, knowledge and training services to help sellers on the street close deals and help drive revenue," noted RAB President/CEO Erica Farber. "These sessions should be a ‘must attend’ at the NAB Show for any attendee in the broadcast business, and will be of great value back in their respective markets." The sessions will be held on Monday, April 8 and Tuesday, April 9.
