Quick Hits: Justin Timberlake, Bruce Springsteen, Justin Bieber, The-Dream, Frank Ocean, Foals
February 11, 2013

Right after his performance at last night's Grammy Awards, Justin Timberlake ran right over to the Hollywood Palladium to play an intimate concert. It was his first solo set in about five years, and Timberlake was backed by a 16-piece band as he powered through old favorites such as "Like I Love You," "Cry Me A River" and "What Goes Around" along with a handful of new tunes including "Pusher Love Girl," "That Girl" and "Suit & Tie." Timberlake ended his 90-minute set with "SexyBack." The singer also celebrated the night by releasing yet another song from The 20/20 Experience called "Mirrors," which can be streamed via YouTube. Timberlake's new album comes out on March 19, and Target will offer a deluxe, exclusive edition of the album featuring two bonus tracks: "Dress On" and "Body Count."

Bruce Springsteen

As part of Grammy weekend, Bruce Springsteen was honored as the MusiCares Person of the Year at the Los Angeles Convention Center on Friday night. Springsteen delivered a thoughtful speech at the end of the night when he accepted the trophy from Recording Academy CEO/President Neil Portnow, and he also played a five-song set. But before that, a number of musicians were on hand to pay tribute to Springsteen and perform his songs. Mumford & Sons did "I'm On Fire," Elton John played "Streets of Philadelphia," John Legend did a rendition of "Dancing in the Dark," Sting offered "Lonesome Day," and Jim James and Tom Morello teamed up for "Ghost of Tom Joad."

Justin Bieber tackled his debut hosting gig on Saturday Night Live over the weekend, where he mocked himself during a Miley Cyrus Show skit, played a skateboarder who had run away from home in another skit, and played himself in a sketch where he was flanked by a score of "professional body doubles." Bieber also pulled double duty as the musical guest, and his live performances featured two selections from his new Believe Acoustic record. First, Bieber did an acoustic rendition of "As Long As You Love Me," followed by the piano ballad "Nothing Like Us."

After winning a Grammy for his contributions to Jay-Z, Kanye West and Frank Ocean's "No Church in the Wild," producer/artist The-Dream revealed that his fourth album will drop on May 7. Backstage at the Grammys, The-Dream told Billboard that: "May 7, my album drops and the name is Fourplay." He'll release a new single, "Slow It Down," on Thursday. The-Dream added that Kanye West is also working on his next album, and the producer will be joining 'Ye in Paris to work on it in the coming weeks.

Less than a year after releasing Channel Orange, Frank Ocean is hard at work on his sophomore effort. On the Grammy red carpet on Sunday night, Ocean told Billboard that he's "knee-deep in the next record. [I'm] just taking my time with it." The singer also mentioned that he’ll embark on another tour in the coming months.

Brit band Foals announces a headlining tour of North America, kicking off in Reno on April 10 and winding up in Asheville, NC on June 12. Foals' new album Holy Fire is in stores tomorrow. Surfer Blood will open almost all dates, and have also announced that their new record is titled Pythons and will be out June 11.
