February 19, 2013

Prepare to get "Suit & Tie" fancy in London, Justin Timberlake and Jay-Z will be headlining  at London's Wireless Festival in July at Olympic Park. Timberlake will lead on Friday, with support by Snoop Dogg, Trey Songz, John Legend, and Frank Ocean. Jay-Z headline on Saturday with assistance from Emeli Sande, Rita Ora, Kendrick Lamar, DJ Fresh and Calvin Harris. The Hollywood Reporter noted that this performance will be Jay-Z's only one in Europe in 2013, though Timberlake will be touring around in the UK.

Jack White

Jack White
has been selected as 2013's Record Store Day official ambassador. He's following in the footsteps of other greats that acted as past ambassadors, including Iggy Pop (2012) and Ozzy Osbourne (2011). White released a long letter about the loss of style and experience from modern technologies and on-demand services that provide music, entertainment, and social interactions behind a screen from the click of a button. His excitement in the long-lost art of the record shop was not lost in his letter, as he believes there is true "beauty and romance in the act of visiting a record shop," that could "change the way [people] look at the world, other people, art, and ultimately, themselves." He concluded with, "Let’s wake each other up." You can read the full missive at recordstoreday.com, along with a video starring White.

Black Eyed Pea Fergie and her husband, actor Josh Duhamel, have announced that they are expecting their first child. Fergie tweeted on Monday, "Josh & Me & BABY makes three!!! #mylovelybabybump." The couple has been married since January 2009.

Matchbox Twenty is putting all hands on deck with their upcoming and first-ever "Matchbox Twenty Cruise" aboard the Carnival Imagination. The musical endeavor sets sail December 6-9 from Miami to Nassau in the Bahamas. The cruise will include several "intimate" performances by Matchbox Twenty, along with Q&A sessions, photo opportunities, and evening parties on the deck where fans and band members can mingle with one another. Tickets go on sale to the general public on February 2. The service will be held by Rose Tours, who also has organized cruises with groups like New Kids on the Block, Backstreet Boys, Rick Springfield and Boyz II Men.

The Postal Service has added 16 new tour dates added to their U.S. and Canadian reunion tour. The trek already has more than half a dozen shows sold out, with more on their way. The duo will be celebrating the 10 year anniversary of their album Give Up. Four shows in California are already sold out, as did all their shows in the UK. The newly added performances start May 28 in Boise, ID, and end on July 26 in Berkeley, CA. Tickets, tour dates, and locations are available here.

Cincinnati has quite a lineup heading for them at the 2013 Bunbury Music Festival. Headliners include The National, fun., and MGMT, with Tegan & Sara, Walk The Moon, Cake, Atlas Genius, Belle & Sebastian and many more on board as well. The festival goes from July 12-14. Tickets (on sale now) and the full festival lineup are available on their website.

The legacy of Tupac Shakur will continue to be heard in new releases, reports Billboard. Afeni Shakur, Shakur's mother and head of his estate, said in an announcement yesterday, "I believe it is our responsibility to make sure that Tupac’s entire body of work is made available for his fans. My son left many incomplete pieces and even more unfinished ideas. Using the blueprints he gave us, I am committed to fulfilling this duty." The late rapper's estate is now being handled by Jampol Artist Management. Fans can expect more tunes that Tupac didn't manage to release before his death. Jampol Artist Management also manages the estates of The Doors, Janis Joplin, Otis Redding, Peter Tosh and Henry Mancini.

Simon Cowell's The X Factor is continuing to lose its hosts, as co-host Khloe Kardashian has reportedly received the boot from the show, following the exits of judges Britney Spears and L.A. Reid.
