Mumford & Sons Back On Top With Babel
February 20, 2013

Mumford & Sons
After winning Album of the Year at the Grammy Awards on February 10, Mumford & Sons' Babel is back at #1 on the sales chart. The typical post-Grammy bump pushed the album from #4 to #1 with 185,000 copies sold, according to Nielsen SoundScan, posting a weekly gain of 242 percent after the awards show. This is Babel's fourth non-consecutive week at #1 after spending its first three weeks there in October 2012. In addition to Mumford & Sons, six of the other titles in the Top 10 were impacted by the Grammy Awards. The 2013 Grammy Nominees compilation jumps from #11 to #2 with 88,000 sold, and Bruno Mars benefits from his performance on the show as his Unorthodox Jukebox rises from #8 to #3 with 86,000. Taylor Swift, who opened the Grammys with "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together," shoots up from 12-4 with Red, shifting 72,000. Last week's chart-topping album, Josh Groban's All That Echoes, slips down to #5 this week with 72,000 sold.

In the back half of the Top 10 lies three more Grammy performers: The Lumineers are one of them, as their self-titled album has its best sales week yet, rising 10-6 with 67,000 sold. Another Grammy favorite, fun., sees its Some Nights album climb from #14 to #7 with 66,000. The Now 45 compilation slides to #8 this week with 63,000, and Andrea Bocelli's Passione falls to #9 with 48,000 sold. Finally, Grammy performers Maroon 5 are in the #10 slot with Overexposed, shifting just about 48,000 units.
