Universal Music Group Distribution (UMGD), the sales and marketing division of Universal Music Group, has promoted Michael Jakary to SVP of Label and Field Marketing. In this expanded role, Jakary will continue to lead the marketing efforts for UMGD's owned and associated label groups. He will manage the distribution company's label relations, overseeing field and college marketing staff and all of UMGD's Label Marketing Directors. He will also direct the company's marketing initiatives, including major account presentations, music festival events, and independent retail promotional campaigns such as Black Friday and Record Store Day.
