The 2013 New Orleans Voodoo Music + Arts Experience has announced its lineup, with Pearl Jam and Nine Inch Nails headlining. The three day music festival is slated for November 1-3. Also on the bill are Calvin Harris, Bassnectar, Paramore, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, The Gaslight Anthem, Trent Reznor's other band How To Destroy Angels and many more. Other acts are expected to be added to the festival lineup.
At the Coachella festival on Friday night, Daft Punk debuted a teaser trailer for their upcoming album, Random Access Memories. Chunks of the song "Get Lucky" also appeared in ads that played during Saturday Night Live. And in a new interview with Rolling Stone, the duo revealed that while recording their album in Paris, they also wound up doing a few songs with Kanye West for his next album. The pair said they laid down a combination of live and programmed drums while Kanye worked out rough vocals on the fly, and that "It was very raw: he was rapping – kind of screaming primally." Daft Punk also says they have no plans to tour on their new album. "We want to focus everything on the act and excitement of listening to the album," said Thomas Bangalter. "We don’t see a tour as an accessory to an album."
Janelle Monae says her new album, The Electric Lady, will see a fall release, and she will unveil a new track on April 22. "It's titled Q.U.E.E.N. and it features Erykah Badu," Monae told Billboard.com about the song. "I'm really excited about it. This song is inspired by private conversations she [Badu] and I have had and continue to have. She's a great friend to me; she's like a big sister and it's a song about private dialogue that she and I have had." As for the full album, Monae said it is "more revealing. It's more personal. I'm taking a lot more risks on this album."
The Dirty Heads have announced a summer tour, kicking off in Austin on June 21 and wrapping up on July 28 in Costa Mesa, CA.
