RIAA Hands Out Digital Platinum Awards To will.i.am, Of Monsters And Men & More

The RIAA has announced its latest round of Gold & Platinum certifications, with ten musical acts earning their first RIAA digital award certifications in March. Three bands or artists received their first double-Platinum single awards: Of Monsters And Men for "Little Talks," EDM trio Swedish House Mafia for "Don't You Worry Child" and will.i.am's hit with Britney Spears, "Scream & Shout."

The RIAA also awarded two first Platinum song awards for over one million downloads sold, to rapper Mac Miller for "Donald Trump" and Country artist Gary Allan for "Every Storm (Runs Out Of Rain)."

Five acts received their first Gold song certifications in March: Country singer Kacey Musgraves for "Merry Go’ Round," Olly Murs for "Troublemaker." indie pop band Passion Pit’s "Take A Walk," contemporary Christian artist Matt Redman’s "10,000 Reasons (Bless The Lord)" and rocker Sick Puppies for "You’re Going Down." 

Jack White earned his first solo Gold album award for last year's BlunderbussMeanwhile, Justin Timberlake received his fifth Platinum digital single award for "Suit & Tie."  Taylor Swift also secured her 21st Platinum certification for "Begin Again," while Swift’s "22" was certified Gold (becoming her 30th Gold song!).
