Mike Stern Returns To Jacobs Media
May 10, 2013

Mike Stern
Jacobs Media announced today that programmer, researcher, talent coach and writer Mike Stern will rejoin the company as a consultant. Stern worked for Jacobs back in the early ‘90s during the launch of the company’s Edge format. Since that time, he has programmed Alternative, Rock, and Classic Rock in markets as diverse as Dayton, Las Vegas and Chicago.

"Mike brings a wealth of experience and new thinking to our company. Beside his Rock background, Mike has focused on talent coaching, writing, and ratings – three important components that can help Jacobs Media better serve its clients," noted Jacobs Media President Fred Jacobs.

Stern’s programming resume includes VP of Programming for WKQX (Q101)/Chicago (Emmis), as well as successful runs at WLZR/Milwaukee (Saga), the Peak/Denver (Emmis), KXTE/Las Vegas (CBS), and the sign-on of The Edge/Dayton (ARS).

He served as editor for the Billboard Top 40 Update, and previously held the post of News/Talk/Sports editor for R&R.  He also consults Arbitron’s Programming Services Team, and provides talent coaching to personalities around the country in a variety of formats and dayparts.

"I couldn’t be more excited to join the team at Jacobs Media. It not only gets me back to doing what I love, being part of programing radio stations, but I also get to be involved with all the other fascinating, exciting things going on at the company," said Stern. "I can’t thank Fred and Paul enough for this great opportunity."

Stern will be based in Chicago, and will periodically return to his hometown of Detroit. He be reached at mike@jacobsmedia.com.
