Quick Hits: One Direction, Daft Punk, Trevor Bolder, Interlocken Music Festival

One Direction
With One Direction's 3D movie, This Is Us, coming out in August, it is no surprise that the group is also preparing to release a book. One Direction: Where We Are: Our Band, Our Story, will hit retailers on August 27. Released by HarperCollins Publishing, it is the "only official book from 1D charting their journey," according to a statement. The news comes one week after the boy band announced their 2014 stadium world tour, which kicks off in Colombia on April 25. U.S. dates are slated to be announced soon.

Daft Punk is working on some remix versions of songs from its brand new album, Random Access Memories. On the air with BBC Radio 1's Pete Tong, the duo explained, "We're working on some mixes ourselves, so yes, there will probably be Daft Punk mixes of Daft Punk. Usually, we never mix ourselves, that's something we feel we're interested in doing this time. The first track we're remixing is 'Get Lucky.' That will be out by the end of June."

Bassist Trevor Bolder, known for his work with David Bowie's Spiders From Mars and Uriah Heep, died this week at the age of 62 after a long fight with cancer. Bolder joined Bowie's backing band in 1971 and played on albums such as Hunky Dory, The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars, and Aladdin Sane. "Trevor was a wonderful musician and a major inspiration for whichever band he was working with," Bowie said in a statement. "But he was foremostly a tremendous guy, a great man." The bassist joined Uriah Heep in 1976 and, barring one short break, was a fixture until his ill health forced him to take a step back early this year. "Trevor was an all time great, one of the outstanding musicians of his generation, and one of the finest and most influential bass players that Britain ever produced," reads a post on the Uriah Heep website. "His long time membership of Uriah Heep brought the band's music, and Trevor's virtuosity and enthusiasm, to hundreds of thousands of fans across the world."

More details have been revealed about the jam-oriented Interlocken Music Festival, which will run from September 5 to 8 at Arrington, VA's Oak Ridge Farm. Widespread Panic will perform on two of the four nights, with one set featuring a collaboration with John Fogerty performing classic songs from Creedence Clearwater Revival. Furthur is confirmed to play on three of the four nights, with one set featuring a performance of the full album Workingman's Dead. The Black Crowes will perform on two of the four nights, while The String Cheese Incident will also play on two of the four, with one set featuring a collaboration with Zac Brown which they have dubbed the "Zac Brown Incident."
